'Glorious Collision', was Feb 2011, and I didn't even know they had released it until yesterday.
It seems the band has been suffering from the revolving door of exiting members and that the music has suffered?

It was only the last album that had a big lineup change, other than that, they have been fairly consistent with their lineups.

Glorious Collision was an excellent album, although let down by shit production.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

heh, that's the first I've heard of that album too.  I've enjoyed some of their stuff, but they're not a band I really follow too closely.

Dead Heart in a Dead World is my favorite, I think, followed by In Search of Truth and Recreation Day

I think you mix Nevermore with Evergrey? Could not for my life figure out what Evergrey song that was.

I've not heard every album to the full yet but i can rank my top 3 though:

1. In Search Of Truth
2. The Inner Circle
3. Recreation Day

They have alot of deep and emotional songs but nothing comes close too When The Walls Go Down, that is the saddest song i've heard from any metal band ever! I've always have a lump in my system after listening to that song.

Dead Heart is a killer album, except it's by Nevermore.

I pretty much love

1. In search of Truth
2. Recreation Day
3. Dark Discovery

I don't like Torn or Glorious Collision at all and the rest I can take em or leave em for the most part.

Isn't summer over there like June/July?  And they haven't even recorded it?

Looking forward to this one though.

Anyone know if the best of compilation A Decade and a Half is a good representation for new listeners? Here's the track list:

CD 1 (61:32)
1. The Masterplan (4:46)
2. Blackened Dawn [live] (4:04)
3. Rulers Of The Mind (5:57)
4. A Touch Of Blessing (5:50)
5. Frozen (4:57)
6. For Every Tear That Falls [live] (5:22)
7. More Than Ever (4:13)
8. Blinded (4:34)
9. Faith Restored (3:53)
10. These Scars (5:51)
11. Broken Wings (4:42)
12. Words Mean Nothing (4:11)
13. Wrong [live - previously unreleased] (3:12)

CD 2 (50:57)
1. The Great Deceiver (4:19)
2. Monday Morning Apocalypse (3:10)
3. Wrong (5:07)
4. Waking Up Blind [live] (4:05)
5. Solitude Within (5:32)
6. Recreation Day (5:21)
7. Still In The Water (5:17)
8. Leave It Behind Us (5:09)
9. Fear (4:15)
10. When The Walls Go Down [live] (5:28)
11. Frozen [live - previously unreleased] (3:14)

Really the only songs I ever listen to are Recreation Day and Solitude Within. Kinda neat that they're back to back on this. CONSPIRACY!

Yes that's fairly solid, but honestly I would just go out and get In search of truth. And then Recreation day next. With those two albums, you're pretty much set, and then if you want to branch out to the other albums you can.

Pretty much this, although most of their other work is definitely worth checking out.

Third'd.  Though, there isn't an album of there's that I don't love.

Just looking at the length of the discs, each disc only being an hour actually pisses me off.  Why rip potential fans off when you can fit another 40 minutes of music on.  There's a few more selections that would fit here that show even more diversity of the band.  Just seems like a cop out with not filling the cd's up.  A couple of songs I'd add;

She Speaks to the Dead (top 10 Evergrey song, should be on here)
As I Lie Here Bleeding
Ambassador (very underrated)
Lost (a great more catchier number, always liked this one)
Obedience
Mislead
Mark of the Triangle

Yea I follow what others say. Start with In search of truth and then work yourself up their disco. To be honest it's not a great idea to start with a compilation, atleast not imo. One song can never justify a whole album, especially not when we're talking about a band that mostly do concept albums.

Yeah it fucking is.  Actually I changed my mind, that best of tracklist is good enough, but missing quite a lot of essential Evergrey songs.  Nosferatu included.

I wouldn't buy the Greatest Hits album or whatever. That album has a terrible mastering job, it clips audibly and the dynamic range is way too bad. Just get In Search of Truth, Recreation Day and The Inner Circle. Those are their greatest hits. Not a bad song on any of them.

Monday Morning Apocalypse as a whole isn't that great, but there are some very good tracks on there as well (Still in the Water for example).
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Yeah, that's a monster of a song.  That album really is awesome and unique.

Good to know about the production.  A shame cause most of their work already sounds really good production wise, especially Truth, the sound on that album is fantastic.

I've always like Monday Morning, really strong album, just a bit misunderstood I think.

Amen to that.

I have loved MMA since the first day it was released. Its powerful, catchy and I still listen to it regularly. Never understood why it was so quickly dismissed. Sure its a different stylistically, but for what it does, it does well.

I think you answered your own question.  There was nothing wrong with it, it just was more straightforward and less prog.  Remember this came after TIC, people just don't like change.  I thought it was a really refreshing change in direction after TIC, terrific album.
