Once is great. Best song is The Siren, followed by KTT(can't spell it)

Higher than Hope is one of my favorites off of the album. Pretty haunting.

Also obligatory Ghost Love Score mention.

I don't think there's a bad album in the Nightwish discography.

I've been spinning Dark Passion Play lately and I enjoy teh hell out of it everytime

I like Come Cover Me

I remember when we saw that live. It was such a surprise.
But nothing comes close to the time we were heading to Mokena for their second show in in the Chicago area, and you said, in the car ride over, "Dude wouldn't it be cool if they played "Dead to the World"?"

And then this happened:

^That was a favorite at the shows. It was such a cool vibe to see them just sit back and acoustic the shit outta the audience. And it always leighwayed into TP&tP. Never failed.

With the first chick, it sounds like they are trying too hard. I am happy with Anette. :)

Anette is great for the style of music they're playing nowadays but I would definitely pick Tarja over Anette any day of the week.

Tarja tended to have a real operatic voice that didn't really sit well with their newer sound. But when its softer, its amazing, like the vocals in the chorus of The Siren, and Ghost Love Score.

I also kind of prefer Anette, but saying she's miles better than Tarja is just stupid.

As a pure singer, she is not, but from what I have heard of both "bands," Anette fits better with the music and it feels less forced, cheesy, and power metally with her.

Anette seems really good if she's given the right music to fit her voice. If Tuomas writes for her voice the right way (Like Escapist or her part in the Islander for example. Bad example would be Whoever Brings the Night. Voice distortion sucks  :tdwn) on the new album then I'd consider putting her on the same level as Tarja was on when she was with NW.

... .. but.. mmrm.mrnr...   *holds back*

Nah I really like Mrs. Olzen, but I just love the massive epic feel Tarja gives their older stuff, a little thing that is lacking with Anette.
Getting awful crowded in my sky.

I actually agree that Tarja's voice didn't fit too well with Nightwish until her last two albums with the band. They were really starting to come into their own with those.

I am agree with you to a point. Wishmaster's strong musical prowess gave Tarja so much to work with. Songs like "Wanderlust", "Come Cover Me", and "Fantasmic" boosted her power even more. You can hear some elements of later albums in the songs, but overall I think Wishmaster is one of her strongest. It doesn't sway me farther from loving Century Child though.

Lol, Yeah after seeing this argument start up (once again!) I got fed up and thought of the comic strip on the spot. Maybe now everyone will stop being picky and just enjoy Nightwish for what they are: talented musicians.

Anyone seen the idea behind the next album? A film called Imaginarium, seems a bit OTT to me, but then again I guess that's what Nightwish do best (don't get me wrong I love them, just they're a bit much sometimes)

BUMP!

Just in here to say, if Imaginarium does not perform sexual favors, it will not have lived up to its hype. Hell, 3.7 million dollar budget, a movie, 5 years between albums...

The album doesn't have a 3.7 million dollar budget, the movie does.

But the album will probably just be modern nightwish by numbers. Danny Elfman style orchestra stuff over chunky but very very simple guitar/bass riffs with extremely basic 4/4 drumming and lots of syncopation.
