Beauty of the Beast really is an excellent song, definitely one of their best. :tup

Nightwish's version of Phantom is vastly superior to the original. I mean, it's a nice show and has a few really good bits, and the ideas behind the song are so brilliant, but the instrumentation always sounds tame. Whereas Nightwish took the ideas and gave them life.

I Concur. I think Nightwish's version gives more depth and dark overtones than the orchestra could deliver, but this is what happens when orchestra music is performed by metal instruments.

To the folks on page 1 debating over the 2 frontwomen: I have no favorite, I like them both equally.

Tarja's voice is a cold stream voice that sends chills down your spine. VERY NICCEE!!!

Anette's voice is warm and storytelling. GREAT SUCCESS!!!

Tarja was a superb frontwoman and practically gave them their image, status and signature sound. As for Anette, i indeed see a bright future for her with the band, she'll do great things as well!  :tup

Anette needs to dye her hair black again. It looks so much better that way.

Whoa!  When did she change it?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and in my eye, blond makes her look hot and black makes her look hot also.

That's pretty much my dilemma as well.

So, the Nightwish survivor is going kind of lame so far. I'm hoping it's because they're earlier albums.

How many people are still interested in enough for a Century Child survivor?

I'll be involved as well, but I may need some reminders because I almost never got to P/S.  Sorry for not participating in the earlier rounds.  I could have done Wishmaster and Oceanborn.  But the problem is, I'm not as familiar with those albums, and my CD's were still packed in boxes after the move until just this last Saturday, so I couldn't listen to them.  It's probably not worth a re-do, but if you did re-do those survivors, I would participate now.

Advertising wouldn't be a bad idea, maybe at the bottom of the replies could work.
Then again, how many people are Nightwish fans here?

Black makes her look like Tarja's cuter replacement who just can't pull off a decent live show. Blond makes her look like someone who doesn't fit in singing songs that are beyond her range.

I'd say the black hair. I mean, at least with the black hair she looks metal, even if she sounds bad live. With the blond hair, she just kinda sticks out. Speaking of, anyone get Tarja's new album?

End of an Era = epicness.

Even if Tuomas probably was right in kicking Tarja, Anette was hardly the best replacement... she kills (in a bad way) songs like The Siren live... But as long as Tuomas composes it'll be allright, and I enjoyed Dark Passion Play - it was a great album (not nearly as good as Once though)

No one?? I came here to find out others' opinions as well. Not sure if it was worthy of its own thread. Sounds pretty good from the samples I've heard.

Yes, I have Tarjas new album.

It's not nearly as good as her debut. The song writing is a bit less focused, and the mix is worse and her voice is sometimes WAY too over the top for what she's singing over. That said, there are some really amazing moments, but it's not very memorable in the end. Her debut is amazing though.

I preferred it to her debut.  Seems to me like she has found her footing now, I wasn't that fussed on her debut but there are a lot of songs I really like on this one.  Some even sound as if they could be Nightwish, only thing I have a problem with is her lyrics which seem pretty crap in parts.

Really? It just seemed all over the place and without any kind of lasting power. And come on, there are some songs where her over pronounciation is REALLY noticable.

I'm holding both Tarja's albums in my hand. Are they worth the buy? The debut is used for 7.99 and the other is the deluxe for 15.99.
