I don't know if anyone knows, but the Imaginaerum film soundtrack will be done by Petri Alanko, taking the Nightwish material and adding his own stuff.

And Petri Alanko is the most underrated soundtrack artist of all time. You can here his Alan Wake stuff here:

I know this gets talked about on every page, but I'm currently giving Once another chance, and I can't help but think this boring, annoying, grating, and a shitty attempt at mixing opera and symphonic metal. Dark Passion Play is literally at least 10x as awesome.

I'm not even that big of a fan of Nightwish and this post offended me. Go back to your Lou Reed and your coffee shops and your rock and roll music.

I *am* a Nightwish fan, so I'm doubly offended.   ;)  DPP is good, but Once and Oceanborn are in a different class.  For Symphonic Metal, DPP was a step down (IMO).

Didn't Nightwish pretty much start the whole Symphonic Metal with Female Operatic Vocals that's so in vogue nowadays? I find most other bands that do the same thing to be cheap ass knockoffs of Nightwish... and I'm not even  much of a fan.

Teaser for "Storytime" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6YhaJK8TC4 courtesy of the official nightwish website.

Sounds different, and that melody is extremely catchy!!

How did Orcus get his opinion used in this?

Also, I hope everyone who decided to make North America wait 6 weeks gets impassible jagged kidney stones.

Honestly I loved Tarja's solo album from last year. Apparently I was the only one to actually listen to it, though.

I listened to a few songs from it.  It was ok.  I'm of the opinion that both Nightwish and Tarja are better together than they are on their own.  Storytime re-affirms my position

I have it.  Didn't care for it.  Jingle pretty much nailed how I feel:

I'm of the opinion that both Nightwish and Tarja are better together than they are on their own.

Tarja's solo albums have great songs on them, but they aren't much to talk about as whole albums.

I'm with bosk1 and jingle.boy.  As much as I like Annette, Tarja gave Nightwish that extra notch above so many other bands, and Tarja just lacks something going solo.  Her singing is fine, her songs are all over the place.  I still think Nightwish is really good, but... oh well.

Man. Tarja was definitely a top 10 album for me last year. I mean, I can't imagine her having done anything remotely like "Rivers of Lust" with Nightwish.

Pretty good song.  Sounds a lot like something that could easily have been on DPP, but written with Anette's voice in mind (which is about what I expected).  I like it.  But it isn't nearly special enough to justify how long they've made us wait.

Storytime isn't bad, but it REALLY sounds like Nightwish (not in a good way).  Tell me I'm not the only one that hears Master Passion Greed throughout the verses.

There's the video.  Not really digging it myself.  The main riff reminds me too much of Wish I Had An Angel.

Don't know what exactly I hear, but it does sound recycled to some extent.  And to me, Annette sounds hollow/airy. I'm not hearing any power in her voice on this track.
