Hopefully, like some of you guys say, the gentleman filling in is top notch.
He is my favorite drummer right after Mike Mangini. Here's some stuff he's done recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGMbHHgga18

I'm really really sad for Jukka, that must be awful. Hopefully he overcomes.

Really sad about this.....sucks he couldn't stick it out until the album's done.....after all, albums are permanent, tours aren't. But I understand health comes first at all times. Hope he returns sooner than later!

It's definitely unfortunate, and I can relate. I've dealt with severe insomnia issues myself, and it can wreck your entire life. When it causes you to give up or lose the things that mean the most to you, it's serious.

Sad to hear about this! Though he's no virtuoso, I really enjoy Jukka's drumming, and he's easily the second-most fun member of the band to watch on Showtime, Storytime after Floor (probably also second to Tarja on End of an Era). I have a close friend who really suffers from insomnia, though, so I have some idea of how debilitating that can be and definitely understand his decision to take a step back.

It is good to hear from others that his temporary replacement is excellent, though. I do hope to see Jukka back behind the Nightwish kit soon, though. It won't be the same without him.

This is one of my most anticipated albums of 2015. I am not that familiar with the band (I only have the excellent Century Child, though I have listened to many of their other songs), but it is still sad to see Jukka go. Luckily, Kai is the best replacement possible; I really like his work with Wintersun.
Only a prog fan would try to measure how much they enjoy a song by an equation. :lol

NIGHTWISH – release 'Planet Hell' (special clip)
While NIGHTWISH are currently working on their upcoming new studio album, fans can enjoy a series of five special clips, with impressions of the »Imaginaerum« world-tour.
Today marks the start with an impressive clip for the NIGHTWISH classic 'Planet Hell'.
Enjoy it here: https://youtu.be/CRJ_csyXosU

Pretty cool of them to release this and supposedly more to come and a pretty cool performance of a song that isnt on Showtime Storytime so I hope the other clips fall into that category as well.

Sweet!  My introduction to NW was thru this song.  Always holds a special place for my ears.

Not bad for Floors first performance of the song.

I really want to hear her sing The Siren.

Yea thats pretty ballsy and shows a lot of confidence to show off a first performance of a new singer like that.  I like it a lot.

I honestly like Tarja on that song better, but I need to hear a version where Floor is more comfortable

Can't help but think about the situations with Tarja and Annette when hearing about Jukka's plight. I wonder if it would have killed them(him) to allow Jukka some time to recover before working on the album.

Sounds to me like it's been an ongoing condition over the course of years.  He says he's tried multiple treatments to no avail.  I would assume he has had some off time over the years, be it a month or months to fight it.  If so, at what point should (or if) the band say..."Hey, we need to give Jukka x amount of time to get this handled, and in that time we take a hiatus"  Not sure what the right answer would be.  Bottom line is I hope he gets it resolved for his well being, then returns to the fold!

Its interesting the Jukka is in the video at the end, I guess that was filmed before his announcement.  Really sucks that he was involved in the making of the album up to that point and then couldnt go on.

Yea it was most likely filmed before but either way he's still involved behind the scenes in the management and I also assume he's involved in the drum recording process in some way and assist Kai with certain things.

I'm very pumped for the upcoming album. I think Floor is miles better than Tarja (who I strangely enough don't really like at all) and Anette combined. Also I think Imaginaerum is their best record so... AND it does not make matter worse that now they have my favorite drummer playing on this record. Kai Hahto is one of the tastiest, most elegant yet very virtuoso-like drummers out there.

There was an interview with Kai Hahto on a local newspaper around here (Kai is from the region I live in) and in that interview he says that there's going to be a song on the new NW record that's half an hour long. Interesting. I hope Tuomas has really thought this through and the song has enough good elements to survive 30 minutes.

Agreed, but I cant imagine a 30 minute NW song that doesnt have a long orchestral break.  Hopefully, no spoken words.

Latest Making Of video...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJF4Twus_08

I find it interesting that Jukka is still involved at this point.  Even putting together his own drum set and rehearsing with the band.  Makes me think that Kai will not be doing his own style of drumming for the album.  All speculation on my part.

Yea, its from earlier this summer. Defintieyl before the announcement, but the point i was making was that he was playing drums on the demos for the new songs so I am not sure how much Kai will actually be writing/contributing.
