I'm really bummed when I couldn't get tickets for any of the upcoming shows (and they're playing three near me:  Philly, NYC, and Atlantic City).  Unfortunately, unless I get another job soon, I'm going to have to sacrifice things like concerts for awhile.

But I'm not ruling out that I'll still be able to go to at least one of them...I'll just have to pull some magical strings once the dates get nearer if there aren't still tickets available.

I'd kill myself for you.

This is just me stopping by to say that I originally thought this was going to be shit and AiC was going to just get a copy cat singer and try to re-live the glory days ala Journey but I gotta say. This kicks ass. He might not be Layne when it comes to the :metal songs but I actually think DuVall is better than Layne with the moody acoustic rock songs. Black Gives Way to Blue is slowly climbing on my top AiC songs...so cool!

Nope, I wanted to have a guaranteed view (as Terminal 5 is GA only, and I'm 5'4"  :-[) so I got tickets to the Foxwoods Theater.

I saw pictures of it and I was thinking that too, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to take the chance of not seeing anything. It's not a big deal because I have seat 27 at the CT venue, which is in the first few rows  :hat

For me...it's gonna be like watching a play at school!!! :caffeine: Does any one know if Cantrell moves on stage because I am on Inez's side and it would be so cool to be like 5 feet away from Cantrell.

From the footage I've seen Jerry doesn't move much at all. He has to be at his mic for vocal duties on pretty much every song.

Yeah, no offense or anything, but if bands don't change the setlist nightly, I HATE seeing it in advance and being spoiled.

I bought the album Dirt. I liked it but was not entirely blown away. I can't get into AIC for some reason.

Angry Chair is, IMO, their best song.

My wife would agree with you.

Saw AIC do the Tsunami benefit in Seattle in 2005. GREAT show, featuring Chris DeGarmo (Queensryche) on second guitar. He played lead on an acoustic set, and then rhythm on the electric set. Then I saw AIC headline in San Francisco in 2006 with William on vocals. GREAT job. James Hetfield came out to do "Would" with them as well. Then I saw AIC again opening for Velvet Revolver in the Bay Area. Another superb AIC performance.

Unfortunately, while AIC is playing fairly close to me on this new tour, I am going to have to miss it. It's mid-week and I just bought tickets to Sevendust/Drowning Pool and Slayer/Megadeth/Testament. So I am tapped out.

Am I the only one that thinks that "Black Gives Way To Blue" should be longer than three minutes? I think it should be around the five minute mark at least, after all, I always think of it as the epic, culmination of the album.

Yeah, it should be longer but that is not the worst AiC did to a song. I would take a 20 minute Them Bones! :lol That song is so good and 2:48 ( I think) so doesn't cover it.

Agreed.

And also, I just got done with listening to their entire catalog of studio recordings.  :metal

I am currently having a love affair with Your Decision.  That song is really great.  The lyrics are so sad though.  The new album is really good.

Of course no one can replace Layne, but the new singer sounds really good and the harmonies sound just like they used to.  I'm really glad the band is carrying on because they are so good, and the new music is awesome.

I have been completely underwhelmed by the new album. Hopefully seeing songs from it live in two days from the floor at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC will give me a better perspective...

You've been saying that, but you haven't elaborated. Interested in your take. Personally, I think the new album is really good. Maintains what AiC has been and shows a glimmer of something new as well. Very emotional album as well.

A lot of people painted it as a brilliant comeback by the band and one of the best albums of 2009. I have listened to it a handful of times (and am listening to it right now in prep for the show tonight) and once the CD is finished, the songs disappear from my mind. Nothing sticks with me. The music just kind of plods along. Nothing really jumps out as a strong track with catchy riffs and hooks. It is ok when I am listening, but completely forgetable once I move on to something else. I appreciate the emotional lyrics, but nothing really grabs me on this one...

Really?  The hooks in Check My Brain and Your Decision are pretty memorable to me.  Those are two great singles off the album.
