I was only introduced to this band a day or 2 ago, but because a. I love them soooo freaking much and b. no one else is doing it, I am going to do a Agalloch survivor starting sometime next week! That is If I know I can get a decent amount of voters. If I did this would everyone following this thread be interested? :)

Why don't you have Pale Folklore yet?  It's as good as their other albums.  :tup I think you would enjoy it

Profound Lore to release 4th Agalloch album…

Agalloch is proud to announce a renewed relationship with Profound Lore Records who will release our long-awaited 4th full length album. Profound Lore originally released our debut and sophomore albums on vinyl in 2005, including the amazing wooden sleeve edition of “Pale Folklore.” The artistic attitude and level of integrity from Profound Lore is why we are extremely pleased to have them represent Agalloch.
The new album will be recorded throughout June and July, but we do not wish to make any concrete statements regarding a release date at this time.

I just gave a few songs on Ashes Against the Grain a listen. I really like "Fire Above, Ice Below" a lot.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

That happens  ;D It's such a good, fresh take on what was a pretty stale genre (folk metal). Can't wait for their new album :caffeine:

I've been listening to the Mantle lately as well, and I'm totally hooked by In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion. I love the atmosphere of the album in general.

Personally, Ashes Against the Grain is my favorite, but its pretty fantastic that Agalloch has made 3 albums that are all masterpieces.
One of my favorite bands, and i can't wait for the next album. :>

Yeah, Ashes Against the Grain is probably one of the greatest albums ever created, imo. That and The Mantle are all I've heard from them though.

There were only 500 copies, so that's not really surprising.

Ashes Against the Grain is my favorite, but The Mantle and Pale Folklore are both godlike as well.
And lets not forget the EP's, both The White and The Grey are amazing.  :hefdaddy

The Mantle if you're into atmosphere, AATG if you're not.

But yeah, The Mantle is better, though I'd consider AAtG to be more accessible.
