The middle-part is probably amongst the best music ever written, by anyone.

Amazing song, but probably my least favorite on the album.
Still shows how fantastic the album as a whole is though. :)

Not Unike The Waves is still my favourite. And the song that got me into Agalloch  But seriously, there is nay a weak spot on that album. Though a lot of people dislike The Grain  :'(

Great new interview with John https://www.metalhead.ro/MHTV/Ep_110___Agalloch_si_Alcest_in_Silver_Church-Agalloch___Interview_for_METALHEADro-sid-110-cid-3463-l-1.html

Says the new album is already written!  :omg: they just need to record. Good news.

He says they will record around May/June so hopefully August or September release! And a lot of other stuff  :)

According to their facebook page, Jackie Perez Gratz, the cellist from Giant Squid and Grayceon, is going to play on the new album as well :caffeine:

I'm sure whatever they do will be amazing, but I really want them to continue the AAtG sound.  I need more.

So Ashes Against the Grain is fucking awesome still. I got The Mantle, but haven't really gotten into it as much as AAtG.

AAtG is pretty fucking amazing. :D
Even though i love both The Mantle and Pale Folklore, AAtG will remain their absolute masterwork to me.

Yes, it is. I actually think the album is a grower. And since I fucking loved it the first time I heard it, that's pretty amazing. I could listen to Falling Snow 1000 times and I woud still enjoy it  :lol

Although my opinion remains that The Mantle is their masterpeice, I don't really compare the three albums because they are quite different, and all superb.  :hefdaddy

Ye, Agalloch are truly amazing.
3 albums, all 3 are fantastic.
Not many bands succeed with that.
Personally, i think The Mantle requires me to be in a certain mood.
If im in that mood, then it's phenomenal, if i'm not, then i only listen to ITSoOPC or "I am the Wooden Doors". :P

I Am the Wooden Doors is their best song in my opinion, followed closely by In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion.
Gadough isn't Hitler. He's much, much worse.

Personally, "Falling Snow" has been my favorite for a long time.
But "Fire Above, Ice Below" has grown lots on me, and might have overtaken the throne.  :hat

It does take a few listens to sink in. All the subtle acoustic parts and ambient sections. It's such a very open album. It's definitely one of those albums, which you have to be in the mood for, and when you are it becomes more an experience then a simple collection of songs.  :)

Profound Lore to release 4th Agalloch album…

Agalloch is proud to announce a renewed relationship with Profound Lore Records who will release our long-awaited 4th full length album. Profound Lore originally released our debut and sophomore albums on vinyl in 2005, including the amazing wooden sleeve edition of “Pale Folklore.” The artistic attitude and level of integrity from Profound Lore is why we are extremely pleased to have them represent Agalloch.
The new album will be recorded throughout June and July, but we do not wish to make any concrete statements regarding a release date at this time.

Yep. IIRC they have hired a cellist for this album, so there will definitely be some strings. I also hope for a return of some females vocals as seen in their debut. Either way, it's gonna kick ass.
