Écailles de Lune

Still haven't listened to this, but I think it has the best album art of those.
why

I thought you were an Alcest fan ?  It's not quite as good as Souvenirs but it's pretty enjoyable
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

I can't really call myself a fan; I'm familiar with their sound and such, but never gave them a real listen.

However, I grabbed Ecailles de Lune a few hours ago and listened to it on the way to the store. It was absolutely incredible, and'll probably be one of my top albums of the year.

I didn't want to over-hype it. One of my top albums too. great blend of shoegaze and black/metal  :coolio

I think at some points it gets very "soundtrack" like (which I love) where there will be long 'descriptive' sections without vocals. The Mantle does this especially well (The Hawthorne Passage, I'm looking at you). Where you can pretty much create a scene in your mind with the forlorn acoustic guitar in the background. So if that is also what you meant, I agree  :)

Yeah, that's what I mean, perhaps background music was a bad way to refer to it.

And to clear things up, I LOVE 'background' style music. I'm just getting into Bohren And Der Club Of Gore and they're fast becoming one of my favourite bands to listen to at night.

Background music to me would be stuff like Chroma Key, Bass Communion and the Home & Minor EP (by Oceansize), but i've never thought of Agalloch as background music.

edit: nope, couldn't wait

wow, great song. really enjoyed it! That piano outro  :heart  I have a feeling the sound grows on you. initially the production seems rather weird, but I'm liking the drum sound...and the way the guitars are placed in the mix is quite interesting. this is going to be one deep album.

Sounds like Agalloch but the lossy encoding bothers me. Sounds interesting and of course the full album will be better.

I don't like their growls at all. I wasn't pleasantly surprised so far by this song, the ending was awesome but the other parts were a bit meh, maybe I wasn't in the mood. Which is weird, because I always love and am in the mood for Our Fortress is Burning I and II (3 not so much).
Maybe I will warm up to it after a while.

Holy shit. I'm listening to the new song for the first time and the vocals just kicked in. Very impressive, Mr. Haughm.

I'm surrounding myself with all these new albums and bands so I'll hopefully forget about it altogether.

This pretty much.
And i don't really have a problem with waiting, i think it makes the album so much more awesome when i finally hear it. :P

I haven't heard enough current Agalloch for me to even want to listen to the new single yet, I still haven't actually got The Mantle so I'm good for now.  :lol

I've listened to it on Spotify loads, but I haven't actually purchased it and put it on my iPod, which is when I 'really' get into an album.
