Super Mario Bros. is awesome, while Pokemon is trash, so the decision is very easy.  :)
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow was better than any mario game ever.

Guys seriously? Bowser isn't all about fire ya'know! Like Reap said, he's got a lot of other tricks up his sleeves. Blastoise would have to have one very good trainer to direct him in order to beat Bowser.

Water beats fire.  The only other type Bowser could be is MAYBE ground, but that would just make Blastoise's Surf (since Hydro Pump isn't accurate enough) x4 effective.  Bowser only seems to know Rapid Spin, Slash, Flamethrower, and Stomp (going off SSBB).  None of those would really be effective against Blastoise.

Actually surf would be x6 effective. Because Surf is a water-based move, and Blastoise is a water-type. So that adds x1.5 on top of the x4. And that's without including critical hits.

Bowser is not a pokemon, the rules of multipliers and critical hits don't matter.

I thought we all agreed that those minor technicalities don't apply in this particular fight.
Or maybe we didn't.
Either way, I'm just providing that facts necessary to formulate an educated judgment on the situation.

Blastoise. As mentioned above, Bowser's fire would be ineffective against Blastoise and Bowser can't even beat a midget plumber in a fight.

You guys are focusing too much on the fire. Bowser has claws, hammers, nimble jumping, and a spiked shell. Blastoise is slow, immobile, and his hydro cannons are his only meaningful weapon.

As for the Mario argument, it's not a worthy comparison. Mario is more nimble and tactically intelligent than both Blastoise and Bowser. Blastoise is less nimble and intelligent than Bowser. Mario beats Bowser because of advantages Blastoise doesn't have, so there's no reason to bring him into this conversation.

I think it comes down to the attacks Blastoise has equipped, as mentioned above. If he enters the battle with Harden, Hydro Pump, Strength and Surf there's really nothing Bowser can do.

They are distractions.Blastoise would have to acknowledge them at some point.
