What's the specific defition for an earbook? it's something that looks like a book but you can hear?  :lol because books are not shaped like that, and by "that" I mean what appears for "Earbook" in Google Images. I would call them digipack if at all...

OMG, that was awesome! Something like. "Critics always said that my music was good but my lyrics were cheesy. Cheesy! I don't understand that! Anyway, here's a song about a barbarian, a roman and a hippy.... in space!"

It's basically a big CD book. Atleast I think this is what they call an Earbook. I took some pictures:

Ah, ok, thanks. I didn't realize the actual difference in shape, Google Images for Earbook gives also Blind Guardian's latest album, which I have in the digipack format, and I figured they were all the same size.

No problem. I like them because it's like a digital vinyl and a collectors item. As someone that grew up looking at the cover and booklet in vinyls and CDs while listening to the music this is a extra nice treat because of the large print. To bad they're a bit pricey but as I said I treat them as collecters items and also Ayreon is basically the only artist I buy stuff like this from although, if Maiden did something similar, I would be all over that!

A minor "fun(?) fact" from the trailer.

Around 1:10 you see Rob with the small drum setup that was only brought up for one song. During the afternoon VIP show they camera crew was testing out their positions and such, and during that song they had someone come out and film right in front of Rob, basically blocking him from the audience view a good bit and just being very obtrusive.  Someone around me commented on that and I immediately surmised that it likely wouldn't happen during the normal shows and they probably wanted to be able to throw that good closeup stuff into the eventual release.

Point of this is simply that that shot was 100% taken from that VIP show, and so while I doubt they will pull anything else from it, it's always possible that there is stuff from three shows in there instead of two. But keep in mind the crew was taking breaks, checking things with one another and such, and were not seriously attempting any real filming of that afternoon show.

YES! Will be getting this as soon as released.

Also not sure what fascination Arjen has with bald drummers, but as a bald drummer, I fully support it.

I will definitely get the earbook, and then hopefully the gold vinyl as well. This is all pending seeing what kind of bundles they offer. I probably won't be too heartbroken if the gold vinyl sells out, because that means I order from Mascot instead of the Ayreon Store and save a lot on shipping.

Looking good indeed! Having seen the show twice, and loving this slice of audiovisual material, this might very well become one of my favourite live releases ever.

Furthermore, I hope the full Graspop performance will be broadcast coming summer. I assume it will be a selection of tracks that were also played at the Universe shows, with mostly a part of the same musicians/singers.

Also, checking Arjen's facebook, his music, the Source in particular, did extremely well on spotify for the type of music. Well deserved I'd say!

To elaborate a bit more on this, this release should be a no-brainer  for any even slightest of fans of Arjen's music. I only attended the first night of the concerts, but afterward regretted not getting a ticket for the second or third night as well. Easily one of the all time best concerts I witnessed in my life.

Well, I almost bought the t-shirt and earbook bundle but the shipping from EU was nuts. So I settled on just the earbook from the US store and only spent $59.99 (would have spent nearly double for the bundle).

The US Mascot site was functioning far better than the EU too.

That's hard to believe. :lol

But yeah, VERY happy they had the gold vinyl from the US store as shipping for the Earbook/Vinyl was $15, as opposed to the like $40 it probably would have been from the EU.

Just bought me the earbook from the US store. Was thinking about the shirt, but then decided not to get it. Getting the audio is what I want mainly, and of course the bluray.
