Soo glad that I will finally see Anneke van Giersbergen live this year. Going to see her at the Progressive Circus festival in Malmö on the 29th of September.

Looking around on Youtube for live acoustic shows I came upon her and Arjen doing The Moment from The Gentle Storm - The Diary.

Was under the impression that Arjen did not play live, based on The Theater Equation.

he did say it took a lot of convincing from Anneke to do those gigs, and that it helped it wasn't in his own country doing very small shows ;-)

Do you have any link for that... would be a nice read.

There are some gems from those shows, such as "Comatose" with Arjen being ecstatic at the prospect of singing live: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po4ojPHlUus

I was casually browing around some Vuur videos on YouTube, Anneke while introducing Valley of the Queens was talking about the acoustic shows with The Gentle Storm and said that Arjen never really leaves his home  :D I can imagine what it's like to convince the guy to go out and play!

Man, I just watched those two live videos and I was really pleasantly surprised by how good he was at the whole frontman thing. I never really felt awkward (which is a problem sometimes with longer introductions like that), he was good humored, and really kept the energy up for such a quiet and small show.

Also, those two have some incredible chemistry (both musically and in terms of personality). It's like watching a movie where the lead actors are best buds in real life and there's just so much energy in their acting, if that makes sense. They just seem to genuinely enjoy working together every time I see them (and it shows in the music lol).

I pray to the gods of all the possible pantheons that there's gonna be another Gentle Storm album. Done in the same way of the first, the acoustic version and the heavy version. That project was amazing and it's a pity to let their chemistry go to waste.

I agree. Arjen and Anneke should work together more. All the time, if possible.

Stunning. Goosebumps. It's one of my favourite Ayreon tracks ever, and that is a beautiful performance.

Beautiful. But as nice as it is to have them sing together, Anneke could have sung lead throughout. It's her song.

Expensive as hell, but it'll be one of the few truly rare pieces in my Ayreon collection...

Snagged myself the Ayreon Universe vinyl test pressing.

You need a 12-step program or something.

Thank you! Funnily enough I had almost no time to prepare and I honestly think it's the best of the three I've done with him. One interviewer had to pull out, then another, and I was only available because we had a massive snowstorm that had me take a day off work. But he is such a joy to talk to!

Glad you talked about how most of the singers didn't record at The Electric Castle compared to past albums. Its something I noticed and actually liked about the behind the scenes dvds.

Where are you located? Seeing a bunch of people in Europe, and I think one Canadian getting this early, but no confirmed Americans yet.

Sweden which is pretty close to Netherlands so I assume that's the reason. Was a bit suprised myself when I got the shipping notification.

I can't complain as I had all the footage in advance of people getting their copies, but as far as I can tell my physical product hasn't even shipped yet.

Help me decide if I should get the earbook. I’m really interested but the US store seems to be sold out, and from EU it ends up $80+  :-[

I mean, it's up to you, ultimately. They are very nice, and I have several from Arjen and other artists. Artwork is bigger of course, and you basically have every non-vinyl format which is nice. But then again you can probably get the Blu-Ray for $20 or less and have all the musical content and be done.

And by it, I of course mean the test pressing which will never get played and which I am in no rush to receive.
