Kamelot? It's only a model.

But seriously, I should check this band out.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone hear, but I'm about halfway through Ghost Opera (on "Mourning Star"), and I'm not impressed by it. I think it's bland power metal, right next to Stratovarius' Elements, Pt. 1. It might take a few listens to get comfortable with me, but the only slightly enjoyable song was "Ghost Opera." Bands like Iced Earth and Symphony X didn't come off like this, and DragonForce kinda did, so maybe it's just that I don't like some flavors of power metal.

To be fair, Ghost Opera took a loooooooooooooooong time to grow on me.  It's a lot less catchy and hooky then their previous releases, but it has a very unique and interesting sound that, once you get into it, is amazing.

Ghost Opera is terrible. Karma, Epica and The Black Halo are the only Kamelot albums I can still listen to nowadays.

Kamelot seem to be the only power metal band who don't do the exact same drumbeat for all their songs. coughsonataarticaough.

Ghost Opera is terrible. Karma, Epica and The Black Halo are the only Kamelot albums I can still listen to nowadays.

I always thought pre-Karma Kamelot was crap anyway.

What? 4th Legacy is great, definitely better than Ghost Opera.

But yeah, the first three albums are very skippable.

I can't believe the hate for Ghost Opera.  It's far from typical power metal, but that's one of the reasons I really like it.

Ghost Opera terrible? I wouldn't go that far. It's about as good as Epica I'd say. A slight step down from the sequential order from Black Halo, but still up to par. I mean, the title track is a Kamelot classic. By far one of the best tunes in the cannon. I also like Rule the World. Great opener.

"Ghost Opera" is a very good song. Been in my head all day. Honestly, it's the only one that I liked.

Yes, but after the song after Ghost Opera it's all just chuggy chuggy mid paced rock with NO inspiration. Few cool melodies/riffs here and there, but no real good songs.

I don't know, a lot of the vocal melodies are still strong to me, although they may seem like second rate b-sides in comparison to the genius of The Black Halo. I guess they just inadvertently set the bar too high with that album. I mean, it's perfect. It's my favorite album of the entire decade. That's hard to follow up, but I think they did it as best as they could. I'm looking forward to the new one though. I'm betting the quality will be a step up. That seems to be the pattern. Great album, followed by a good album, and back again.

Love You To Death isn't chuggy chuggy mid paced rock. Silence Of The Darkness is nice too.

Kamelot's first show of the tour was last night.  Supposedly this was the setlist:

         1. Ghost Opera
         2. Eden Echo
         3. Pandemonium
         4. Karma
         5. Center Of The Universe
         6. Wander
         7. Instrumental jam
         8. The Pendulous Fall
         9. Lights
        10. Keyboard Solo
        11. The Haunting
        12. Hunters Season
        13. Human Stain
        14. Drum Solo
        15. Forever

        16. The Black Halo
        17. Season's End
        18. Rule the World

        19. March of Mephisto

Lots of Ghost Opera  :metal

Also live debut of Season's End and the three new tracks.

The Pendulous Fall's a bonus track from Ghost Opera.  I believe "Lights" is the other new one.

Keep in mind I don't know for sure if the track titles or setlist is correct.

I think "Lights" might refer to When The Lights Are Down.

I wish I could get into Ghost Opera more, but damn is it boring..

The solo is sick.  The lyrics are cheesy as hell, but it is a very good song.

I just came back from seeing them live again. I almost forgot how awesome they are live. But that is probably also due to the crowd. Tickets to the venue were sold out months ago whilst non of the other venue's are sold out. This venue is a sort of meeting place for the die hard Kamelot fans on each tour.

I heard 2 new songs. One was called Hunting Season and I forgot the name of the other one. They were quite cool. The new tour is called Pandemonium over Europe, so Pandemonium can be probably be the album name or a song name (last tour was called the rule the world tour).

They also said that there are plans to record another DVD, to be filmed in the Netherlands (for above reason; crowd is just amazing).

No idea. All the cool kids were using this avatar.

I think it was almost the same as above. Forever took a bit longer though, because the crowd would not shut up - at all. We kept chanting the main melody thingie for about 5 minutes till Khan said it was enough and that we should continue on :p. He had a huge grin on his face though, and told us that things like this are the reason that they love the Dutch crowd so much.

Dunno.  I don't know which version was played in '05 either, but I would suspect it was the rock one.
