From what we gathered, its nothing life-threatening. He was just burnt out. Almost seemed like they implied that he has inherited some sort of anxiety issue or something.

I'm actually pretty curious what they sound like with Fabio.

This is just what Kamelot needs, the singer of the cheesiest metal band to ever exist.

You know who would be awesome filling in for Roy? Damien Wilson....think about it.

Ok I thought about it for like 3 seconds and Damien singing Forever just wouldn't work.

Why not? His voice is insane and he has pretty much the exact range and natural tone as Roy.

Fabio will be interesting, but he wouldn't sing the songs the way Roy did at all.

His natural tone is as far away from Khan's as it is possible.

I still think he'd be a great fill in.

So they had their first show with Fabio. Here are some vids.

Not as bad as I thought it'd be. :)

Pretty good. Strong accent though. So did Khan have a mental breakdown or what?

It seems something like that, and he apparently discovered god or something. They said they haven't thought about getting a new singer yet, but once the tour is done, they'll have to figure it out.

I'm not familiar with Fabio, but the hunters season video was pretty good. I just wish Roy was ok, he really made Kamelot special.

It might just be my pessimistic attitude towards everything but i'm quite sure Roy is leaving Kamelot behind.

With that said: ROY, PLEASE MAKE MUSIC WITH CONCEPTION.

Yeah, Roy's gone, no doubt.  Youngblood said in an interview not too long ago that if they have to replace him, that's exactly what they will do.

Just checked out that Hunters Season live clip and Fabio sounded really amazing!!

Roy is gone? I haven't followed the news at all but I was under the impression that he would only be gone for one tour. He discovered god? O jeez.

Roy was the major reason I liked Kamelot, he was absolutely awesome live. Can't imagine Kamelot without him.

It isn't written in stone yet but it's apparently obvious he isn't interested in music now.

It sounds good. I take Roy Khan any day over Fabio, but it's a good vocal performance nonetheless. There's still something about his extreme vibratto that I don't love.

People seem to hate that. I remember when there were all sorts of posts complaining about James using too much vibrato at one point. I like Fabio in one song that I heard years ago but he seems to sound a bit whiny on the clips of Kamelot that I've seen.

I'm a vibrato fan,  it's like everyone bagging out Tobias Sammet (Edguy/Avantasia) for his very wide vibrato.  I never understood the hate, I love it!

Guess i'll listen to Kamelot's discography today..

I'm glad it's finally official to be honest, although Khan did say that Youngblood told him to think about it for a while.  I wonder where Kamelot will go from here, really now, the only core members left are Grillo and Youngblood.

This sucks.  It looked like it was inevitable though, it's not like it was entirely unexpected at this point.

I think I'll miss him more for his lyrics than his voice.  He had a great voice, but it was the lyrics that imo elevated Kamelot above other power metal.
"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."

I would also like to point out I prophesied this before all of this happened:

New and updated top 50 is here, to the consternation of many!

50. Irea (from Siége Perilous)
49. The Light I Shine On You (from Karma)
48. Blücher (from Ghost Opera)

47. My Train of Thoughts (from Poetry for the Poisoned)

The first of a number of new tracks from Poetry for the Poisoned, "My Train of Thoughts" would be right at home among the dark, introspective songs on Ghost Opera. The lyrics are brooding and indecipherable; I sincerely hope they have nothing to do with what Khan's experiencing right now, because that combined with the crowd applause/passing train at the beginning would not bode well at all for his future in Kamelot.  Rampant speculation aside, the orchestration on this song is simply phenomenal.  While the guitar chugs, the strings and female vocals rise and fall, creating an incredibly dense tapestry of melodies to go over the repeating guitar.  Seriously, listen to that chorus with a good set of headphones; as Adami noted in the other thread, while the production for the guitar might leave something to be desired, the production on the keyboards and vocals are top-notch.  The guitar interlude is very "Human Stain"-esque in its style and abruptness; this is another of the times I wish Kamelot would experiment with song structures more, as the melodies in this song beg for something greater than a condensed 4 minute tune.  Regardless, very cool track.

46. The Inquisitor (from The Fourth Legacy)
"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."

I don't know why people think its cause he found God, when he wrote a song about Jesus' persecution.

Doesn't mean things can't change over time. I hope he will at least do a solo career (Neal Morse), he's just too good to give up singing.
