[Scurvy!Dreams]

By the way, I'm trying to decide what to do about ratings where people have specified that it's based on a live version (WDADRU, Score versions of Another Won and RTK, possibly others). So far I've been excluding them as the majority of songs will have all their votes based on studio versions, but it occurs to me that quite a few people voting (especially for those two songs on Score) may well have only heard the live versions and so are still voting on those. In which case, do we reckon those votes should be included?

As long as the music isn't significantly different, I say count them. AFAIK the ones you specifically mentioned aren't too different except for the vocals.

Yeah but half the reason people rate WDADU so poorly is because of the vocals.

Yeah, I think it should mostly count. While there are some differences, in general they're close enough to just count them.
The only song where I consider the live version different enough to affect my score is The Killing Hand, but I judged it from the studio version.

Not really. If after repeated listens over the many years I've been a fan, I still cannot recall a song, or bear to listen to it in anyway, then I give it a zero. Maybe I should upgrade Scarred to a 1 for the intro, but in reality, when it's all averaged out, the difference between a 1 and a 0 makes little difference.

Scarred actually makes me a worse person inside when I listen to it. If I could give it a negative number I would.

Yeah I think I agree. I've heard all the studio versions so I've rated based on those, but at the same time, my opinion of songs has been influenced by seeing them live, which is a pretty similar effect really.

Nope, I think it's great as well, and so far out of 37 ratings it's average is 7.30, so it's obviously reasonably well liked. Although it has by a long way the highest standard deviation (or variance, or whatever) from BC&SL, so opinions are clearly very split.

No, I'm the guy who hates Scarred with a passion, and Blob happens to always be the most vocal about his dislike for the song. He also gets a ton of backlash for that, so I feel compelled to tell him I agree with him.

As for emindead's ratings, I disagree with many of them, but I can see some reasoning there, instead of giving random 0s to a bunch of songs or even whole albums.

I dunno, my enjoyment of it has stayed extremely high each time I go back and listen to it (listening right now actually for the first time in maybe a month or so). It's an album that may not have done much out of the ordinary but really is very very solid and just has great songs throughout. Obviously it won't appeal to everybody, but to those it does appeal to, I think it'll have a lot of staying power.

I changed plenty of songs, the changes weren't big but I feel it's much more accurate now - before the ratings kind of "melted together" too much, now I feel they're better. I hope it's not too much work?

Overall I see I'm pretty light in my ratings, as there are very few songs falling under 6/10, but well... I feel I like all the albums for a reason.

As for the average ratings, they turned out to be pretty accurate... except for Awake and Octavarium being lower than they should be (in case of Awake 11 songs has an influence, I guess).

I did, because I decided that they've lost their "absolutely the best" status over time, but I still find them excellent. Regression and Vacant are permanently awesome. I kept 10/10 rating only for the songs I felt they deserve absolutely nothing less and are strictly my favourites. 9.5 is for those very close behind. Regression is a special case, which I explained in the thread below.

I might eventually do my ranking for the song ranking thread, but it will be extremely difficult and will take a lot of work. Although I think you can already see the pattern in my ratings showing what I like and what I dislike.
