'View Askewniverse' appreciation thread
« on: October 14, 2009, 01:44:02 AM »
I have spent the last 2 days watching these 6 movies and they are awesome (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2 for people that don't know what this is).

All of the movies would probably be in my top 15. Discuss and appreciate.

Kevin Smith is awesome, and I love his movies. I still need to see Chasing Amy, but the rest are great. Clerks changed my life.

Decent movies, but definitely overrated.

Seen all of 'em except Chasing Amy and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.  But yeah, I love all the rest of the series.  The original Clerks is my overall favorite.

I am a huge Kevin Smith fan. I have all of his movies, two out of the three books he's written, his Batman graphic novel that he did with Walt Flannagin (Fanboy in the View Askewniverse- the guy that alway goes 'Tell 'em, Steve-Dave!") and I have the first two Evening With Kevin Smith DVDs. Clerks is my favourite film of his uin general and ack And Miri Make A Porno was great as well.

I do love all the Kevin Smith films as well as his books but I do hope future movies are better than
Zac and Miri make a Porno. I must say it is the only DVD of his that I will wait to be in a bargain bin!

Zach and Miri is not a View Askewniverse movie.  It was funny, but the story was a bit flat.

I thought Zack and Miri was pretty good. Not really what I expected going in, but good all the same.

Also, if anyone hasn't seen them, the Evening With Kevin Smith videos are incredibly entertaining.

Clerks II is amazing. (Better than the original IMO)

I actually didn't think so.  I think Clerks II had more heart than Clerks 1, but I felt like in that way the sequel sorta missed the point.  What I liked about Clerks 1 was the satire and social/cultural commentary.

I'm from NJ so of course Kevin Smith's movies played a huge role in my teenage years.  And I love every single one of them.  Although Clerks and Dogma are my favorites.

Why has no one seen Chasing Amy?

I've seen exactly one scene: the one where Silent Bob speaks.

Usually Mallrats is the first movie people see of Kevin Smith's flicks.

Smith's new film, A Couple Of Dicks comes out in February and stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan (the drug dealer that Jay and Silent Bon run into when they get to Hollywood).

It is good...maybe I'm just getting too old!  :D
His books are in part copies of on line blogs just in book form.

My Boring Ass Life released 2008

Also, if anyone hasn't seen them, the Evening With Kevin Smith videos are incredibly entertaining.

These DVDs are great for anyone who will never see Kevin live, I must say I loved him talking about his experiences with Prince.
