This. Sounds closer to Lunatic Soul - not complaining tho, I love that project and this is great.

Yeah! I'm diggin' that new Riverside track.

Song flows together very well, doesn't feel at all like a 10 minute track.

I just heard the new song. It sounds like we're in for another great album of music. The beginning of the song reminds me of later Pink Floyd.

Yeah I too love Lunatic Soul great solo album. I don't think I've heard the second one but love the first album.

Although I'm stoked for the new instrumental to drop, I was slightly disappointed to learn that only 4 of the songs are new and not the entire album. I had assumed it was a collection of unfinished tracks they polished and completed. Though still going to get the album.

And according to wiki Lunatic Soul has 4 releases so far. How did I never know this. I'll have to check them out!

All new 4 songs are great on the new release. I'm kinda bummed that there are 9 tracks I already own prior even though 2 are remixes. Still trying to decide if I should get the CD, probably will. Love the ambient last track, this band really is amazing.

I haven't picked up the new album yet...but I was listening to Out of Myself today, and I was suddenly hit very hard by Piotr's death.   It moved me to record this...

Upon further reflection, and more listening and meditating, I have decided that starting next week, I will be reviewing one Riverside album (or EP) per week for the next ten weeks or so, with my review of Eye of the Soundscape being posted on Feb 21st 2017....the one year anniversary of his death.

I hope you guys will tune in (the link is in my signature) and maybe don't mind of I post the reviews in this thread as they come.

I'd totally be up for that  :corn I really like this band but a few of these albums still need room to grow (and some I've still not heard).

Have you considered doing plug.dj listening sessions? They are an awesome way to listen to albums with fellow fans

Odd thing is I seem to be enjoying Riverside's last 4 outputs a lot more that the dream trilogy. With each new release I get more drawn to the band.

Love fear was brilliant. Memories in My Head took awhile. It's extremely atmospheric. But I slowly became addicted to that EP.

First review will be posted Monday the 19th. This is for timing purposes. I wanted to review the live album as well, but I can't find it anywhere. Is it out of print?

Skipped a week because of the life circus....but the review for Second Life Syndrome is up.   This album is very moving to me...and one of the more important albums of their career, so I rambled a bit.   For that, I apologize.   But I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Enjoy!!!

Well done, man!  I really enjoyed your analysis and thoughts.  This masterpiece of an album has become very meaningful to me, and it's nice to hear someone explore its lyrical depths.

Man, I'd love to sit sit and talk about that album one day with Duda.  It's such an emotional gem.  I wonder where he stands now with some of the issues he wrote about in the album.

I've been staying on my listening schedule....but fell behind in shooting the new episode because everyone has been sick.  (My 92 year old Mother in Law was actually in the hospital for a week, and is now home on hospice)

But here is the short episode for the EP Voices in my Head.

I am a week behind schedule....and still fighting this monster cold (it's REALLY getting annoying)....but I will make up the time with a mid-week episode for Memories in my Head when I get to it.

For now, here's the 5th Riverside Episode focusing on my personal favorite....Anno Domini High Definition

Picked up Love, Fear and the Time Machine today, my first Riverside album. I bought Lunatic Soul's Walking on a Flashlight Beam last year so I'm already familiar with Mariusz Duda's vocals. Will give LF&TM the full spin later.

Riverside are releasing a live album
https://riversideband.pl/en/news/item/riverside-lost-n-found-live-in-tilburg-2

Too bad that right now it's being sold only during the tour. I would've loved to listen to this. Hopefully it comes on sale globally afterwards.

So Riverside were great last night. They played a two hour set with no support (which was a cracking bonus in itself) and it was a different gig experience for me. As I'd mentioned yesterday (in the 2017 gigs thread), the crowd was older than I expected  (saying that I had no idea what the Riverside demographic was before last night) and the crowd was very static. That makes sense though as Riverside's music isn't really the sort to get you moving, it's more to close your eyes a drift away to.

I was mesmerized by Duda throughout the show. His bass playing is a sight to behold and it's unusual for me to focus on bass but it was so audible (and pleasing to the ear) that I couldn't help it.

I wouldn't call myself a huge fan but I really appreciated them more live, the instrumental sections were beautiful and also filled with plenty of headbanging moments. They're not a particularly 'showy band but they do what they do really well. I'd definitely see them again and recommend them to everyone on here (but I'm sure there can't be many who haven't at least checked them out).

This sounds Great. I'm seeing them in Copenhagen in two weeks and I'm really thrilled about it since I haven't seen them before. Their sets looks a little short during 2017 After a quick look on setlist.fm but I'm sure it'll be great. They don't seem to bring out any songs  from ADHD which seem a bit odd. Still, I'm excited  ;D

I used to be into them a lot, now not so much anymore. That said, I went to see them on the Love, Fear etc. tour and they were really, really good. I definitely appreciate them a lot more in a live setting vs. on a record.

Yea, I definitely agree with that statement. I don't find myself wanting to listen to them that often but live they were kinda mesmerising.

Okay, so I saw them last night and they were terrific! Great sound, great set and a great show overall. Really nice light show for being a smaller consert. They all seemed very content aswell, smiling and laughing throughout the show while keeping a serious undertone with mentioning that this is a very special tour since it's the first one without Piotr.

Bottom line, great show, Second Life Syndrome and Escalator Shrine were sick.

I met Mariusz! :woot: I interviewed him about the new Lunatic Soul album and Riverside's future plans: https://www.musicalypse.net/riversidelunatic-soul-mariusz-duda-tampere-2017/

I also reviewed their show in Tampere (https://www.musicalypse.net/riverside-w-lion-shepherd-klubi-tampere-29-09-2017-english/), and there are photos of the performance here: https://www.musicalypse.net/riverside-w-lion-shepherd-klubi-tampere-29-9-2017/
