I need to get hold of some Chroma Key, but the interview was very interesting, thanks.
This is as exciting as superluminal neutrinos. The sexy thing is that this actually exists :D

Yes you do. Pronto. It's magical stuff. Might favorite musician might be Kevin Moore. I'm listening to This Is A Recording for the first time and it's so awesome, despite only the last couple songs actually being Chroma Key 'prototype' songs. 'Watercolor' sounds like his first Chrom Key song, and the song 'Chromakey' is fucking sex all throughout; sounds like it could lead into You Go Now.

I feel like most of those songs are rehearsals for what would come next. Obviously, on the first Chroma Key album, most songs were in the same "mood" as Nora, Blusong or Wednesday The Sky, but then you also had the interesting experiments like Shallow and Hay Day, May Day, Help, which aren't echoed in any of his later stuff, but they're cool. I like those demo songs a lot.

Nope, the demo is out of print and Kevin said he won't reissue it. So I'm guessing you could youtube them like the rest of us poor fuckers who weren't around for the original release :lol

I agree.  This song tickles me right where I itch for a Mooregasm.

I just listened to Chromakey (the song) - wow! :o Too bad it's pretty impossible to find a physical copy of any KM solo release at least here in Finland (except for Graveyard Mountain Home, which I ordered recently). :sadpanda: I would buy Dead Air... and You Go Now in a heartbeat if I came across them.

I think there's You Go Now on Amazon still, and DAFR is nowhere to be found. He really should reissue those two, but I guess the man has different priorities...

As much as I share your opinion, the phrasing disturbs me :rollin

This was probably discussed when FMT came out, but the beginning of For Nothing reminds me of Graveyard Mountain Home so much, it's so lovely.

I totally agree.  Kevin played guitar on GMH, so I naturally thought he played the guitar on "For Nothing."  But the album notes for Fire Make Thunder say Jim Matheos played all the guitar.  So maybe Jim was doing his best Kmo impression on guitar.

I only just recently picked up Fire Make Thunder.   It's growing on me every day.

As much as I love Wind Won't Howl...the guitar lick is almost *too* identical to Radiologue...but since Radiologue is in my top 5 all time OSI songs, I'll give it a pass.

And Invisible Men just blows my door completely off.

This album is like Blood, but a bit more consistent.    After really getting into the album I'd have to rank them this way.

Free
Fire Make Thunder
Blood
OSI

(although 2 and 3 are nearly a tie)

Yeah, it has some nice stuff on there, but to me, the album's pretty forgettable on the whole.
From the ocean comes the notion that the realise lies in rhythm. The rhythm of vision is dancer, and when you dance you´re always on the one. From the looking comes to see, wondrous realise real eyes....

I've noticed the similarity too and Kevin's vocal melodies in the verses remind me of Radiologue as well.

I'm pretty sure that for Mebert it's the nuances that decided on the order. Amirite?

Well, I love the first album.  I give it a 9.5/10.  I really never give perfect 10s, just because I don't believe in perfection.  There's just some real magic there, being the first album at all, and they created such a unique sound with Kevin's voice over progressive metal.  And the concept and album packaging -- i love it all!  Free is just a hair behind that first album for me, and the only reason for that is because I personally think there are some cheeseball lyrics in spots that don't live up to the first album's lyrical quality, like "Simple Life."  I actually listen to Free more than any OSI album though.  It's very well-rounded musically.  Blood is just a hair behind Free for me.  So basically, those three albums are all separate by a hair for me.  The new album though is a couple notches down.  It just hasn't connected with me yet as much as the previous releases for some reason, although I do think there are some very good songs on it.

I was underwhelmed by FMT.  Not a bad album, but I think it's their weakest.

Much like that OSI tour huh? :D
I just did some counting and I think it would be plausible, and get more people interested, if it would be a joined CK/OSI top 30, so that way people who focus more on CK would have more CK and people who focus more on OSI would have more OSI etc. Now who do we PM to get a permission for this I wonder... :corn

I don't think we need any specific permission - there have been loads of top 50/25/20/whatever list threads for many different bands lately. And now that I think about it, a top 25 for Kevin's post-DT projects overall would actually be more interesting than just an OSI list - more dedicated fans (read: fanboys/girls) like me and you could include stuff from both Chroma Key and OSI, and those who only like OSI could stick to their songs.
