Yeah. I would have been fine with a re:free (sadly that was a label thing and he won't be doing it again unless required to)  type second disc or just some earlier demo versions of the current songs.

I couldn't stand re:free, I had no patience for those songs. The originals were a lot better.

I prefer the remixed version of Home Was Good. The other - yeah. But if Kevin had done those they would probably be a lot better.

This. The remixed Home Was Good is absolutely stunning, I always love listening to it on a stormy day (or anything by Kev for that matter). Also, if I'm in the mood then the remixed Kicking is very cool, it just drags on a bit. I'm actually listening to it now...I like it, but it's a toss up between this and the original. As for the Go remix, I don't think I've ever listened to it fully, that's probably the only song I actually dislike.

Since we're on the topic of OSI remixes, not sure if you guys have ever heard this dude's remix of OSI's "Go."  It's stunning.  He posted it on YouTube last year.  He told me has wasn't too familiar with OSI, but his friend played him "Go" and he really liked it so made a remix.

Yeah, it's not bad. Only Go is bad, Kicking is OK and HWG is amazing. Even bought the CD when it came out. Some of the songs on Blood (like the title song) could lend themselves very well to some remixing and experimenting, imo.
Some of the remixes for that Steven Wilson album were better than the originals too.

To be honest, Kevin has seemed really open to working with various musicians.  He's been taking on a lot of "guest appearances" with small bands that are his fans and working on a couple songs for their albums.  Bands like In Progress, Chaos Venture and now this Italian composer Alberto Rigoni.  So, considering that, I would think Kev would be open to working with SW if he asked.  Just a guess tho.

The question remains, how much of a KM-fan is SW? Obviously we have Shutdown, but it seems like if SW had enjoyed that collaboration and had been a huge fan of KM, they would probably have done something more by now. (Though it took over 10 years before SW did something with Åkerfeldt)
And besides, SW is crazy busy. Even if he jumped the ship on Blackfield, he still has way too much on his head. Solo-album 3 on the way, then he is really due for another PT-album, and then we HAVE to get another No-Man album, and throw in a couple of "mixing other band's albums" and a few Bass Communion-albums here and there, he doesn't really have much time. :P

I think SW would join if he's offered and has the time. I remember reading an interview with him that initially he wasn't interested because what he had heard was the original idea of the album (with DG still on board as a singer iirc) but when they gave him a sample of what's actually going on musically there he changed his mind.
This should be google-able, unless I've had a really vivid dream about reading SW interviews...

I know that Gavin said in an interview a few years back for Blood that he asked SW about OSI when he was considering being the drummer and SW recommended OSI and said its good stuff.  I forget what he said exactly.  The interview is posted under the Media/Interviews section on The Mooreatorium.  So it seems SW likes OSI and Kev's creativity.

I'm still stuck on Invisible Men. Every time I listen to the album I repeat the song 5-6 times. Right now I'm loving the bass Jim did on it and Gavin's drumming. Gildenlol should change the name of TPE to Almost TPE.

I was leaving work before and didn't get to find Gavin's quote on Steven Wilson and OSI.  Here it is:

Q: Were you a fan of OSI previously?  What were your thoughts on the first two albums?

GH: No.  I hadn’t heard any of their previous material.  I knew Steve Wilson [the lead singer for Porcupine Tree] had sung on one of their previous albums - and he told me it was good stuff.

While we're digging for stuff...

Quote
shutDOWN is God's contribu... er... I mean Steven Wilson's contribution here. It seems that the band were interested in having Steven implied into the project in any way, but the first things they sent him didn't catch his attention. It was after Kevin started to remodel and reshape the music when Steven finally found himself liking the stuff they were sending him, so he sung this track, that is the longer one of the album (not counting the bonus tracks). It starts slow and subtle, dark and low, to climb from time to time to places that indeed seems like coming out from an old Porcupine Tree album. About half ot the song it steps up the pace, entering another passage of The Thing That Never Was, so the song ends being stronger and faster.
https://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/OSI/Office_of_Strategic_Influence/17530/

So it wasn't an interview but this. Or maybe both, but this is the only thing I could find.

^ makes sense because SW isn't really fond of DT's style of music either. And since it was a prog in the same vain as DT, originally, then KM made it more atmospheric like SW style, he liked it. Hmm, by that logic he probably enjoys Chroma Key.

The shirt looks good!  Nice tight neckhole.  I hate when the neckholes are all huge or stretched out like you could drive a truck thought it.  The neckhole is the most important part of a t-shirt.

i just got a Leprous tee that i ordered a while back...tightest neck hole i've ever had the pleasure of  fitting my big ol' nappy head thru.

...if only my Beardfish tee had maintained its structural integrity...that thing's stretched to shit.

Album started off slow.  Disinterested, barely listening.  Then Enemy Prayer came on.  Good song.  Then I heard Wind Won't Howl.  Oh my god.  Amazing.

I was a bit let down when I first gave this a spin (a whole week after the album came out, cheers EMP...), but with every listen since, i've liked the album more and more. It's now only just behind Blood as my favourite of theirs. Absolutely love 'Invisible Men'.

That sucks. Reminds me of when I preordered ADTOE and it took forever to get here. I usually just wait and preorder from amazon now.
