P.S. I have the middle-section lyrics of BCII stuck in my head and I like it a lot.

The shirt looks good!  Nice tight neckhole.  I hate when the neckholes are all huge or stretched out like you could drive a truck thought it.  The neckhole is the most important part of a t-shirt.

Incredible shirt. I'm like 5 seconds away from buying the combo,

  and I have to say

Matheos has such great timing:

First ADTOE and Arch/Matheos  in the same week

and now Flying Colors and O.S.I in the same week

I'm in heaven.

(now I can just hope for new Fate's Warning the same week as Clockwork Angels)

First impressions:

Did they just decide to write Blood again, and just give this candy a different wrapper? This album didn't grab me until the very end with Invisible Man. This album just felt *too* familiar, even if the layers applied throughout were different from other efforts. I dunno, none of the albums have been that varied and dynamic since the original, which felt like it was a whole bunch of different genres smashed into a single album. I mean, I'll give it a 7/10, but still, this didn't wow me.

I think the album had a few really cool ideas and themes, and loved the first and last track, but overall I got the same impression SD. I rank the first two OSI albums quite highly (even if in retrospect I apparently forgot about them in my top 50 thread, doh), but didn't care too much for Blood save a few tracks.

Having not heard only the last two songs, this doesn't sound like Blood. At all. Does it sound like OSI? Yes, definitely. But musically, Cold Call is the closest it gets to Blood.
First semi-listen, will comment more once I am able to properly give it a spin. Love it.

WOOOOTZ. Got the album this evening. I've spun it once on my shitty 'puter speakers...and I thought almost every track was amazing; the whole thing is awesome and fun. It's a little different for OSI, I'm not sure how anyone could think it sounds anything like Blood. Odd that people hear and relate such different sounds, cause I don't think it really sounds like anything OSI has done...maybe the harder tracks off Free. Anyway, I love the album. I'll definitely be giving it many more spins in the next week or so.

Just had my first listen through, I'd give it a 7/10 upon first listen, I don't know if I'd rank it right behind Blood for my #2 spot or let Free grab the #2 spot. I guess time will tell.

Can't wait to get the survivor started in a few weeks and find out what everyone thinks.

First listen, on Indian Curse right now. It seems like Moore was holding back quite a bit on the electronics this time around, especially compared to Blood.

Edit: Fuck. Enemy Prayer is going to be fighting Microburst Alert very hard for the title of my favorite OSI song.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

This. For me, it's like the Octavarium of this album, the epic song that saves an otherwise average experience.

BTW, I'm not saying I hated the album, I just didn't love it. I was underwhelmed, let's say.

I love it already. But Invisible Men is so good, I have hard time replaying the other songs. Keep that on repeat. It's so good, it's unreal. (also Octavarium is only good if you have my 11min edit of it :p)

I actually felt a bit underwhelmed by the album as well on the first couple listens...in a weird way though, it didn't necessarily have to do with the individual songs or me liking or disliking them, but more of the whole album experience. The album in its entirety seems to cut short; so I guess I love it enough to want more. I mean, it clocks in at almost 45 minutes so it's a decently lengthy album, but as Mebert said on Mooreatorium (maybe here too?), I wish songs like BCII were longer. I am really digging this sound though, I love that Matheos is a bit more prominent on this album. I suppose Moore did take a slight backseat stance on the electronics, but I can still hear plenty of nuances from his side of the project; plenty to fulfill my Chroma Key addiction (For Nothing  :millahhhh).

I was reading some reviews, and while I'm long past letting reviews affect my own opinion, its interesting to see the gripes of people regarding certain aspects of the album; one reviewer commented that the vocals were bland and boring, and that absolutely stunned me because while Moore obviously has a very specific vocal style, I thought they fit the music perfectly as well as the tone of the album in general. I absolutely adore Moore in this rendition, the man sounds angelic; his best effort yet. I'm on my fourth listen now, on Guards... My favorite tracks are definitely Wind Won't Howl, For Nothing, Big Chief II and Invisible Men.

I understand what you're saying Tio.  My feeling with the album is a bittersweet one.  i LOVE the first four songs of the album, although I feel that the middle section of "Cold Call" gets a little repetitive and could use a scorching guitar solo, and "Enemy Prayer" could use some of Moore's spoken-word samples peppered throughout just for flavor.  But other than that, the first four songs are really terrific and rank up there with any OSI song.

The next three songs are good as well, but I feel like they each are too short.  "Wind Won't Hollow" and "Big Chief II" are incredibly awesome, but I just feel like they end quickly and I'm left wanting more, particularly with "BC II."  That song is so unique and should have been extended more longer than 3 minutes.   The current stanzas should just be verses and they should've have created a chorus, and then bam the song is twice as long.  Then it would've been a real rollercoaster ride of craziness.

"Invisible Men" is just incredible.  I can't complain about that one.

The lyrics are a bit more gibberish-like than past albums.  With past albums, the lyrics were weird, but I felt like I could decipher some meanings and put the pieces together.  These lyrics just seem to have no real meaning at all, lol.  But it's still early, so maybe the lyric meanings will come to me, haha.

Listened to the album twice today.

I think its a solid album, but nothing mind blowing. I can see myself listening to it on a regular basis though, which I good since I rarely if ever listen to the other 3 albums.

Right, the lyrics are a big point of interest for me. I don't necessarily dislike them, on the contrary regarding certain songs, but I'm a bit confused. In an interview not too long ago, I recall Moore saying that (after being questioned about the lyrics and how the listeners interpret them) he definitely had a specific point in writing those lyrics and a message was there. Yet in another (granted, one that was older, I believe), he says as they were creating the album and sending samples and such back and forth, that whilst writing the lyrics he almost would literally 'mumble' lyrics at first and whatever fit the tempo of the song. So there's that...

But I'm really pleased with the result of their efforts. It's certainly got a vibe of its own, I can see where they were going with the whole 'Native-American' vibe, it feels very eerie at parts, very...wilderness-y... Haha.

Ed: God DAMN is Invisible Men all kinds of sexy though. I'd almost be content with an album based around this song, strung out and expanded to the omniverses. So many layers of sex.
