A new song was posted on Soundcloud today by the band In Progress that features Kevin Moore on vocals.  That band is releasing an EP later this year that features KM on three songs.  They are KM fans that invited him to make a guest appearance around the time Kevin released his Shine album in 2010.

Song link: https://soundcloud.com/inprogressmusic/burn-it-down-ft-kevin-moore

Did this link not work for anyone else?

The one on Mooreatorium's front page didn't work either.

Interesting... Yeah, he changed the page. The name before was "Burn It Down". Hmm! It is indeed the same song, however.

That's buggin the heck outta me  :lol Very quick change... Don't like the name Plan B nearly as much.

Ooops.  Sorry, yea looks like they adjusted the song name from "Burn It Down" to "Plan B" and that affected the original link.  Here's the new one: https://soundcloud.com/inprogressmusic/plan-b-ft-kevin-moore

FYI, osiband.com was updated last night with a bird image.  Album artwork perhaps?  Some research showed that the bird is likely modeled after the Aztec Spirit Bird.  The Aztecs would view birds on the level of god, I read.  And the circular rings around the bird seem look like the sun and 8 planets -- with Saturn as the one with the ring most likely.  Maybe Kevin is tapping a aztec/mayan/planet/2012 type of theme in this album.

I'm no 2012 buff, but aren't the planets supposed to line up this year on Dec. 21 for the first time in thousands of years?  That fits well with this artwork.

Yeah, it'd be cool to hear him throw in some new age shit, take a little break from the cold electronic feel of the last two releases (not that I'm complaining about KevMo's electronic side).

No, the Mayan calander just happens to end on Dec. 21, 2012.  Everyone wants to read something into it, but it's likely nothing more than the end of a lunar cycle (winter solstice), and they didn't go further because they either ran out of room, or decided that having a calander that for the next 1000 years was looking forward enough.

That said, I like the cover.

I'm not superstitious or anything, but one cool interpretation I've heard is that it will indeed mark a planetary alignment, and the beginning of the Age of Aquarius. That could make for a cool concept album imo.

I just saw a TV program about the planetary alignment coming this year on History Channel.  Here's the link.  Go to the 2:40 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtbhF9oetrs.  It's called the "dark rift."

I totally agree. I enjoy Moore the most when he's doing the earthly, raw and organic melodies, such as with Graveyard Mountain Home.

I neglected GMH for a long time and I really regret it, since its a really decent album. Its very chill and laidback. Outside of his work in DT, its my favorite Kevin Moore album/project, but it does take some getting used to.

Here's two songs I really like off of it:

Sweeeet! Awesome artwork. It'd be cool if it were the album cover; I'm guessing it is given that it's the only thing on the main site. Interesting that there's no other links or anything; maybe we'll get another update sooner than later. I'd love it if this album had a more earthy feel, but I also don't want it to lose that electric feel.

Super Dude, GMH is amazing; there are some odd tracks here and there but as it's been said it is more organic than his other albums, especially the title track.

It's like thinking the world is going to end on Dec. 31 of this year because that's when your Dilbert wall calendar runs out of pages.

Just out of curiosity,

Since the formation of OSI, have they ever once toured at all? And if not, will they ever play any shows?

I know KM doesn't really like to tour, but a few shows here or there would be sweet.

FYI:

OSI guitarist Jim Matheos revealed some details on OSI's upcoming fourth studio album in an interview posted today by the music website Hit Channel.  In the interview, which was conducted on Jan. 2, Matheos revealed that Metal Blade Records was expected to release a press this week released about the album, along with audio samples, song titles and pictures.  He also said that there are no guest musicians on the upcoming album and that the band is considering the possibilities of live shows sometime this year.

"You know it's coming out in March and there is supposed to be a press release coming from Metal Blade next week and basically they asked me not to tell anything about it before the press release because I guess they want to get all the attention when it comes out," Matheos said.  "Kevin and I are really happy with it,  but that's all I can say. There will be a bunch of information released next week as far as titles, pictures and some samples coming out next week on O.S.I website and on Metal Blade as well."

Regarding the use of guest musicians, Matheos said: "Not in this one. We decided for this one that Kevin and I we're gonna take care of everything, except for the drums that neither of us can do.  It just turned out that way, we felt comfortable with the material that we were writing and  he felt comfortable with all the vocals.  You know a lot of times in the past we liked some of the songs that Kevin didn't felt comfortable doing lyrics and vocals for them for whatever reason so we brought a guest vocalist here and there. For this one it didn't work out that way so it's just Kevin, Gavin and I."

Regarding the possibility of an OSI tour, Matheos said: "You know it's like the Arch/Matheos thing. It's hard to put together. We're talking about it, we may do a couple of shows this year but we've talked about it in the past also and has never happened so far and I can't make promises. I will do everything I can to do it cause I think it will be a great show."
