Hrm, haven't heard them sorry.

However, I did have the most epic car journey back from work today by blasting As I Lay Dying out of my friend's really nice car speaker system. Then some Bowling For Soup.

Anyone listen to A Day to Remember?

They're really good, music is fairly simple, but it's fun. I learned their hardest song on bass in like one hour, tops.

Yeah okay this is quite good. It is simple, but it feels far less samey than most metalcore bands :)

There's nothing like blasting metal while driving.  I retuned the sub in my car today (sounds a shit ton better), so now I feel like going for a drive.

The Faceless' first album is some cool technical and proggy deathcore. Anyone heard of The Plasmarifle? I got their album coz I played Halo a lot back in the day so it immediately reminded me of the game. :lol

Which band has the earliest Grindcore albums? I've been thinking of Napalm Death but there must be some others.
About time to get into Grindcore.

Napalm Death is one of the earlist 'real' grindcore bands. Check out Siege if you want to get into the 'influences' of the genre.

Just discovered this band And Hell Followed With. Sound like a cross between the Faceless technicality with the common elements of deathcore (imo). Heres my favorite song from them:

I still don't understand what core means in this case, what's the difference between metalcore and metal?

Well, metalcore = Metal + hardcore

Deathcore = Death metal + hardcore.

The music just takes elements from both styles of music and uses them.

So metalcore is hardcore metal, as oppose to all the sissy metal, does that mean bands like the big four are metalcore or not?
Or is hardcore a genre on it's own and metalcore is a mix between metal and hardcore? in which case all I know about the hardcore genre is whatever Larry Flynt produces.

Hardcore, as in hardcore punk music. Im just gonna copy and paste:

"A blend of hardcore and metal music that evolved in the mid-to-late 90's with bands like Unbroken, Earth Crisis, Harvest, Endeavor, Poison The Well and Unearth. There is a liberal use of breakdowns in the music and the lyrical themes range from the political to the personal"

So I'm listening to After The Burial for the first time since last August. Any of you listened to them?
Once you take all the "seriousness" out of this sort of music it immediately becomes fun and enjoyable, all the grinding parts and breakdowns, cheesiness etc is just all of a sudden fun to hear. Like who cares what people think, it's all there to be listened to with a brutal look on your face.

They're a mix of technical & progressive metal/deathcore, whilst also throwing in melodic sections. I think they're one of those "Meshuggahcore" bands.

I love this song

Also some really good "core" bands are:
Chelsea Grin- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzyjqOVdAZU  Their new album, My Damnation, is their best work by far.

The Contortionist-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nov3l4lgShM  An amazing progressive deathcore band.  I love the middle section of this song, it is breathtaking.

So I'm going through another obsession with After The Burial. Specifically In Dreams (my favorite) and Rareform (The Re-Issue)

One of my favorite Deathcore/Metalcore bands.

Also if anyone here hasn't heard the band Journal. I highly recommend you give their album Unlorja a listen. It is quite possibly one of the most chaotic albums I've ever heard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBk8jfgaS4s

^^ personal favorite from the album

Finally found a thread for these guys

I listened to Mothership by Dance Gavin Dance, since they are playing the album in its entirety. They're coming here, along with Polyphia, whom I want to see. Decided I should listen to the headliners album cause why not. It's a fantastic album, after getting adjusted to the singers tone, I enjoy it even more because of his vocals.

Favorite songs off Mothership:
Man of The Year
Deception

The rest interchange.

who else likes these guys and have seen them live?
I don't know how they can be so proud of winning with them odds. - Little Big Man
