Heavy Rain
« on: September 11, 2009, 09:05:21 AM »
Has anyone else seen this game? It has been in development a while now, and looks like it will have some of the best graphics ever in a video game. Its is a PS3 exclusive.

One of the only games that makes me wish I had a PS3.

Yeah definitely. I read about this game in Game Informer magazine a few issues back, and was so bummed to see it was only for PS3.

Its weird looking. It will apparently have a very quicktime-centered gameplay. Though the developers say it will be something we've never seen before in a game.

Setra, I think that is the best statement I have read on this forum.  Very well said.

Best game ever.

Replayed it several times. Great graphics, great story, kind've like a movie at times with everything being a quick-time event basically. Highly recommended and worth every penny. Made me laugh and scream simultaneously.

Did I sell you yet?

Seriously though, it's insanely good and I'm a fangirl over it.

Wait you like Mitch Hedberg AND lengthy video games?, you're everything a man would wish for in a partner without actually having to be in love with another guy :lol

I made this thread well over a year ago, and have yet to play it, other than the demo. I haven't bought a game since GT5 and haven't really gamed much since then. I getting a hefty tax check this week, maybe I'll indulge a little and finally buy it. I'm sure I can find it used at a decent price by now.

From what I've heard it's a bit in the same vein as Fahrenheit, in the sense that very much of the gameplay is based on the player making certain choices - thus effecting the story.
I really loved Fahrenheit, and it was one of the greatest games I had played when I completed it, mostly for the power the player had to affect the outcome of the story.
Sadly, the day I bought a Xbox 360 about a year ago, I wiped out any chances of me ever getting to play this game, so pretty much what Sigz said. :/

Not played Farenheit, but completed this the other week. Its quite fun and certainly one of the better examples of storytelling in gaming. The quicktime events didnt get dull like I thought they would and during fights in particular kept me on edge. What I most liked though is that it is a game that makes you live with the consequences of your actions. If you fail, the story continues on taking that into account rather than forcing a restart. I would love to see that mechanic introduced in other games like RPGs for instance.

In any case, well worth a playthrough at some point if you have access to a PS3.
