It is an abomination that we have not had a thread about them yet. ITT appreciate the mind blowing, gut busting, face smashing awesomeness that is Gojira. GOGOGOGO

I love them but all their songs are way too similar (at least on their last albums).

I haven't heard much of them but I would have to agree that some of their songs can start to sound similar. Still, their worth listening to. From Mars to Sirius is a fine album.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Fucking AMAZING. All their albums are fantastic, with The Way Of All Flesh being my favorite. Vacuity is arguably one of my all time favorite songs, nothing beats pumping that song on full blast in your car on the freeway at midnight with the bass booster on full. :metal :metal

Gojira in my opinion, is the new Metallica. I think these guys are the new premier metal band and people will be heavily influenced by them/ ripping them off for the next twenty-five years just like bands have been influenced by/ripping off Metallica and Slayer this past twenty-five years. Gojira will be the torch carriers for Kings Of Heavy Metal when Metallica throws in the towel (which I hope is not any time soon)

Fucking awesome band.  They're my most played metal band nowadays.  Every album has something good.  Terra Incognita is brutal.  :metal

I LOVE Gojira.  My favorite story to tell about them is I once "bribed" their manager.  I baked them cookies so I could get backstage.   :lol  (Hey, at least I didn't have sex with any of them!)

Awesome band.  I love From Mars to Sirius and The Way of All Flesh is almost equally good.  I really want to see them live.

They are one of the best ways to get my adrenaline rushing.

Didn't think you'd dig Vacuity, or Gojira for that matter; and it is amazing.

I like them a lot. I probably like The Link the most, just because of a few songs, other than that I think it's a pretty meh album.

I don't know, I just remember you saying that you generally dislike DM, aside from a few select bands, didn't think Gojira would fall in that "like" category.

I can't get that song out of my head.  Love that end section.  It's like the outro to Deliverence got a sawn off shotgun and started punching children.  :metal

I was thinking that too, but I can't remember when I said that I generally don't like death metal. Sure, I think the genre has many bands that sound alike and it gets old quick for me, but I never outright said I disliked the genre.

Oh now I remember. It was Meshuggah. You were worshipping them and I said I can't listen to them for more than 30 minutes cuz they're too goddamn repetitive. We then debated over how you think repetitiveness is amazing and how I don't like it. Now that I think about it, Gojira is pretty repetitive but when you've got riffs like Vacuity, The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe, and Toxic Garbage Island, how can repetiveness be a bad thing? :metal

Gojira's riffs are so awesome, they don't feel repetitive at all.  Also, they can change it up really well.

Meshuggah, on the other hand...

@zeltar, oh yeah, I think I was digging them so much because despite that they are extrmely repetitive, which I generally dislike, I enjoyed every song. Same thing as your gojira point

I still like meshuggah just as much though. I just dont become annoying like I used to be :P
