Melissa and DBTO are some of the greatest heavy metal albums ever made. From the more recent MF stuff, I like 9, Dead Again and In The Shadows.

I also enjoy practically all of the KD band discography, from Fatal Portrait and Abigail to the more recent Puppet Master and Give Me Your Soul. Conspiracy and Spider's Lullabye are killer albums.

Terrible singer. Ripper sings his songs better.

Plus, he's the only in his band that wears corpse pant... Pretty lame.

:P

Ok, I'm done.

The Univited Guest is actually pretty decent though.

:lol I'll refrain from bashing Iced Earth except to say that, musically speaking, MF/KD is world's more interesting than IE ever was.

Just recently picked up half a dozen of MF/KD albums that I hadn't ever owned, and I am enjoying them.  I've learned that other than his early stuff (at least for me) it is either annoying or awesome!

King Diamond is one beast of a singer. Andy LaRocque (sp?) is one helluva guitar player too.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

It's not really corpse paint... more of a theatrical KISS/Alice Cooper thing.  He was doing way before black metal bands were doing it.

Abigail is probably one of the best concept albums KD has ever conceived. Give Me Your Soul...Please was okay, but a slight let down to some of his past material.

Also The Curse of the Pharaohs is 100% awesome.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I love MF as well, but I stick exclusively to that.

Never tried King's solo materials...

Thought I'd bring this thread to life again. We should DEFINITELY run King Diamond survivors. And MF survivors too, but keep them seperate (it'd be too much with like 20 studio records).

Some of the greatest metal that got my through very hard times.  King's power, magic, philosophies, passion, stories, and just sheer awesomeness cannot be matched.  All MF and KD albums are worth purchasing.  King has one of the strongest discographies in metal.

I hope he is recovering well at the moment from his surgery.  Oh, and Andy is one of the greatest lead guitarists in metal, very underrated, brilliant solos.

I think you will find there won't be that many participants.  I'm not sure if many people here are familiar with King's full discography.
