Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin? Neither.
John Lennon or Paul McCartney? Neither.
Frank Zappa or Jimi Hendrix? Neither.
Ian Anderson or Peter Gabriel? I'm only slightly familiar with Ian so yeah.
Greg Lake or Jon Anderson? Neither.
Eddie Van Halen or Randy Rhoads? Neither.
Steve Perry or Freddie Mercury? Freddie, dunno who the other is.
Boston or Chicago? I've only listened to Boston's debut and it's nice.
David Coverdale or Glenn Hughes? Neither.
Def Leppard or Bon Jovi? Bon Jovi because I used to be obsessed with It's My Life as a kid  :lol .
Adrian Smith or Dave Murray? Neither.
James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine? Neither.
The Clash or The Ramones? Neither.
Tom Waits or Tom Petty? Neither.
Bruce Dickinson or Eric Adams? Neither.
Nuno Bettencourt or Paul Gilbert? Neither.
Pantera or Soundgarden? Neither.
Blur or Oasis? I've only listened to one Oasis album so them.
Radiohead or Muse? Radiohead, not even close.
Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire? Neither.

Frankly I don't understand the "neithers" for some of them but whatever; but the one that stuck out at me: Steve Perry.  You don't have to like him, you don't have to like his band's music (it's of a genre; it's great for it's genre, but it's of that genre), but you owe it to yourself and your musical knowledge to know who he is.

Again, not saying you should like it, or want to hear it ever again, but your musical knowledge and vocabulary is severely lacking if it doesn't know who "Steve Perry" is.  (If you need one album, and one album only, it's "Escape".  Be warned, Steve Perry is about as different than Thom Yorke as Lemmy is from Annie Haslam.)
Should have clarified, the neithers mean I'm not familiar enough or at all with both options :P

I admit my musical knowledge has huge holes, mostly when it comes to the classics from the previous century, so maybe you can help me fix that on my next roulette ;)

Well, I banned everything before 1996. That should be quite a good insurance against that.

I'm using classics in the silly test in order to give you guys some hints about my leanings without revealing too much about my contemporary tastes, but it's (relatively) younger music I need in this vaudeville.

The Mullet Round is only there for Stadler and me to feel like we're not from Mars.

Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin? Alice Cooper
John Lennon or Paul McCartney? Harrison but only when he plays with Gary Moore
Frank Zappa or Jimi Hendrix? Even though I think he's waaaay overrated, Hendrix.
Ian Anderson or Peter Gabriel? Elton John
Greg Lake or Jon Anderson? Greg Lake. At least he went through puberty.

James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine? Hetfield
The Clash or The Ramones? Neither, really.

I heard a Chicago song on the intercom music at work last week, and I thought how fucking queer (again, not a homosexual reference). the voice blew, the lyrics blew. It just all blew.

I got Tom Waits's first album in my roulette and it's become one of the greatest things I've ever heard. Seriously. I've heard some of his later stuff and his voice is really off-putting but Closing Time, man. Beautiful music before his voice goes nuts. Just great stuff.

Yeah I'll play with the fogeys. The hot nurses outweigh the smell of decay.  :lol

1 - You should have forgotten to send.
2 - There's a mistake. You accidentally sent me a recording of your dog taking a crap. Please, resend.
3 - There's a mistake. You accidentally sent me a recording of you having sex. Please, resend. BTW, I'm keeping this.
4 – This song is aural flatulence. It's bad, and can't even be interestingly bad.
5 – It's a mess, but something smells intriguing.
6 – It's ok. Some good moments, none of them particularly original.
7 – Good tune. I'm not touching myself yet, but I'm not forgetting this in 20 years.
8 – Loving this. Not perfect, but something here speaks to my soul.
9 – Pantheon stuff. I will find no peace until everyone around me listens to this.
10 – I want to make love to this song. I want to listen to this song before, while and after making love. I want to listen to this song instead of making love.

You may notice drastic jumps of appreciation and consequent room for nuances. That's what fractions are for and I'm gonna use them from 0.1 to 0.9.

Kind of Twist:

In the OP I mentioned the five Inside Out characters inside my musical brain: BaroqueWig, MetalHead, ProgPipe, HeroinBop and WestEndSlut. Every submission will get a thumbs up/down from them. At the end of Round 5, when the playoff seeding will emerge, quantity and variety of thumbs up will factor as tie-breaker. If the tie persists, we'll do a lightning duel with a secret theme.

Please, stop sending me your wang pics.

Although they're boosting my self-esteem, they're clogging my PM box.

JK, was making sure you were paying attention.

reading your scale the gap between 4 and 7 feels massive to me, but that's because a 7-ish score usually is "i like this but i'm totally gonna forget about it because of all the 8+ scores"

anyways shooting for an average of exactly 5.2

I get that. It's probably my old euro schooling heritage, when 4 was death, 5 purgatory, 6 life and 7 being punched in the face by purgatory buddies.
