Seriously guys, send me recommendations anyway and I'll add them to my list to check out later on after the roulette (assuming other people don't send them). A few people did that in my last roulette and I posted "results" for all of them.

I promise, no glam metal.   

I say let everyone thru to round two, and have another culling for the bottom 3 - but use the cumulative scores.  That way, the people with 8.5s and 8s in Round 1 have a bit of an advantage, but they can shit-the-bed.

All 11 players will progress to round 2. I can't really find any basis on which to only choose two. (EDIT: Also a tiebreaker would just add on time which we might as well do by having a larger next round)

However, I want to be fair to those who scored 8 or above and therefore based on the original rules should be safe for the next four rounds. The six of you are, therefore, safe.

The five players who scored 7.5, you're into round 2 but I reserve the right to eliminate up to three of you at any point over the next four rounds, based on how much I'm liking your submissions. I want to see how I get on with 11 players while trying to keep rounds reasonably timely. Consider yourselves on probation.

Reading that paragraph again in isolation, it comes across really strict. I didn't mean it to read so serious.

But I'm glad you think it's fair - I wanted to get the right balance, and to be honest I want to see what else all five of you have in store!

Damn... that Odd Palace album sounds a LOT like The Dear Hunter.  Not usually the kind of music I turn to, but it was pretty enjoyable.  Some of the others ahead of me however .... yikes (for my tastes).

Er, to be honest I'm not hot on my specific subgenres, so I don't know exactly how that would be defined. In principle any genre can be great. There seem to only be three bands classified as SBM on RYM that I've rated, none highly but also all quite a lot time ago (like 10 years plus). Cradle of Filth is kind of lol, and Dimmu Borgir and Emperor I mostly wasn't too keen on, although Prometheus was a pretty good album (3 stars). I've no idea how representative of the genre those are, especially more recent stuff in the genre.
