I'm looking into Gronsfeld now, apparently you combine a string of letters with a string of numbers and the numbers move the letters along. (So string FFFFF with code 54321 would produce ABCDE... I think!)

I feel like the numbers in the URL (84552723) look like they could be a decryption key - any ideas of gibberish to run through it? IHTHTB doesn't produce anything (nor would I expect it to now that a TH has disappeared) and it doesn't really make any sense for the string to be shorter than the number, but maybe if I add the "CD" from twitter?

If that's the decryption key then:

     IHTHTB = ADOCRU
     IHTB = ADOW

:dunno:

We come up with GLASSPRISON

While we're looking for places to put our GlassPrison - CD Longish Favourite sounds like a riddle.

The Killing Hand is a Charlie Dominici longish favourite. It'd be a bit of a vague answer though so probably isn't right

I think Glass Prison is what CD Longish Prefer refers to a favorite from the long CD.

I know right? I feel like I’ve got an encouraging but weary parent.

As far as I’m aware we’ve got...

Solved mysteries
  • URL in JLB picture: ROT13s to Freddy’s twitter profile
  • Vail Renovations: Phone number provides first quiz question, contacting via email provides first secret link
  • Numbers in URL: Gronsfeld cipher
  • Nonsense in reddit profile: Becomes GlassPrison with gronsfeld cipher (probably second password)
  • CD longish prefer: was clue for gronsfeld cipher

Unresolved
  • clue from second picture (foot pedal with T in the top right)
  • IHTB (or briefly IHTHTB)
  • spelling of Vail (may be nothing)

Anything I’ve missed? I feel like we should be keeping track of these somewhere. Also, has anyone tried calling the number again - maybe the message has changed?

Found Jacobi on Google Plus

Good catch! I bet he’s got a Facebook too.

Also - Google Plus still exists! Who knew?

ETA: He does not have a Facebook. Unless he is German and has packed in the renovations business.

Hyrul from the Reddit/Discord created a GDoc to keep track of the most important advancements, though only some guys can edit it.

By the way, we should make sure that we're collaborating to obtain better results, this is, let's make sure that we're all looking at the Reddit, Discord, Forums, any DT community in fact, so we can unite for better and faster advancements. This way we can prevent losing time on discovering something that someone else, elsewhere, already did.

Is anybody here an WordPress user? I wanted to know if WP automatically creates a random name for images or if it uses the original name of the file. That's because some guys at the Discord were thinking that, maybe, 01_rcig4bi9avo7ocekednk (the filename of JP's pedal image) is a somehow a hint.

I'm also trying to look for encryption patterns in 01_rcig4bi9avo7ocekednk. Like, Base64 has the ==, so maybe 01_ is something. That's not likely to be true, though, since Jacobi gave us the name of the encrypt method he used. Decrypting 01_rcig4bi9avo7ocekednk with Gronsfeld gives us nothing, btw, at least not with the 84552723 key (it actually outputs JYDBZBYSGKXZIXBKC, but that doesn't seem to mean anyting).

EDIT: Other images in the website are name with "logical" names, like https://vailrenovations84552723.files.wordpress.com/2018/06/demo.jpg, so maybe 01_rcig4bi9avo7ocekednk indeed means something. And before anybody points out that in this image there's a paper on the window, yeah I've seen it, but that img seems to come from a stock, so it probably means nothing.

Not that it's really relevant to the puzzle.

But if Vail Renovations is a real company, Freddy could be the one who may have done renovation work in the past on the studio they're in now and his trusted friend is the owner of the studio, who's onsite providing the clues.

There's the hidden by design picture that's still unresolved as well.

Is that really part of it (since it was posted on the DT FB account)?  It seems like everything else has come from one of Freddy's social media accounts, as opposed to an "official" DT source.

By the way, I wonder if there is something to the name itself:  "Freddy Jacobi."

DT made the connection earlier today by posting to their FB the picture that Freddy posted first of James next to the sheet of paper, and saying a game was afoot.

I wonder about his name too.

How do you know it isn't his real name?

Well, Jacobi is an incredibly famous mathematician, so he could have derived it from that.

I'm not implying that it is or isn't his name (I know the answer because I know who he is).  I'm just asking the question.  Why would one assume that that isn't his (or...her?) actual name?
