Eh, a good song is a good song.  I guess it didn't bother me because Load came out right around the time when I was getting into Metallica, so I wasn't stuck in that "OMG, if it's Metallica, it has to be heavy as ****" line of thinking.

As it stands now, Wherever I May Roam holds the top spot on the poll. I'm a bit surprised. It's a good song but I wouldn't think it would be in Metallica's top 10 of all time, let alone since 1991.

It's a masterpiece of a song, the mood of the song perfectly matches the lyrics, it's heavy as duck, the verses are atmospheric and explode in a great chorus. I'd call it the hidden gem of the Black Album, well, maybe not so hidden but definitively not famous as Sandman and Nothing, I'm glad that it got all the votes and I'm not even that surprised.

Oh, and - can't check right now - there's a wonderful cover of the song on YouTube played with additional eastern instruments and sang by a girl, check it out!
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'd have at least 3-4 post AJFA songs in my top 10.

Oh yeah, without question. There would definitely be at least 4  post AJFA songs in my Metallica top 10....Maybe more depending on the day.

Well...as I type this, the top five songs are as follows:

Wherever I May Roam - 36
Spit Out the Bone - 28
The Unforgiven - 27
Enter Sandman - 25
Sad but True - 25

I don't think it's at all surprising that four of the five are from the Black Album, and I venture to say that the only reason any of these songs are in the top five is because the poll only includes post-AJFA material.  In fact, if there were a poll (at this site) encompassing Metallica's entire career, it wouldn't surprise me if not a single post-AJFA song was in the top ten.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'd have at least 3-4 post AJFA songs in my top 10.

I think plenty of folks would as well.  However, I think that, as Kev mentioned, in the aggregate, the 80s material would dominate.

The Unforgiven and Sad But True

Severe lack of Through The Never. But that's about my extent of stuff I'm NOT burned out on from the The Black Album or stuff I actually dug from later albums (which wasn't much).
