2. THE BOOK OF TALIESYN(1968)

ROD EVANS - lead vocals
RITCHIE BLACKMORE - guitar
JON LORD - organ, backing vocals
NICK SIMPER - bass, backing vocals
IAN PAICE - drums

The Book of Taliesyn is the second studio album by Deep Purple, recorded only three months after Shades of Deep Purple and released by Tetragrammaton Records in October 1968, just before their first US tour. The name for the album was taken from the 14th-century Book of Taliesin.

Second album, the same formula - mixed original songs with covers. This isn't my favourite DP album for sure, but I do have one strong favourite from this album. But for now, I'm voting for Exposition mixed with Beatles cover.

Not a bad choice but I think Jon Lord rescues that one for me, just like he does Kentucky Woman. I'll go with River Deep, Mountain High which just plods along too long and I never really cared for any version of that song.
