I'm hoping mine is No. 9

We'll see..... :corn

You could be 8 or 14 too.

Some of you are dead-on balls accurate with your guesses. Some are dead wrong.  :lol

It was surprisingly easy to determine what needed more listens and what did not. 5 of them are automatically on my 'to buy' list, so they're very safe. 3 are on shaky ground and deserve more listens. There's going to unfortunately be one cut that I just don't want to make...

Oh, only one cut? I thought, as there are like 14 of us, you'd be cutting 4 or 5? I feel a lot more confident now  :rollin

Oh no. I mean 3 are on shaky ground and are likely to be cut, but I'm going to give them more listens than the ones that automatically blew my mind in case they're growers and my mind changes. The last 1 getting cut (to bring the participants down to 10) is going to be a tough call because the rest are all so damn good.  :|

Yea, that makes sense. So I'm back to feeling less confident  :lol

I feel confident in the music but I know how Claudio's voice divides opinion. Looking forward to results

I agree that #12 is probably Mystery, not Rainbow. "Spellbound from start to finish" is something I could see being said about this album. I fell asleep while listening to it on the train, though, but I blame the fact I only had three hours of sleep previous night. I liked what I've heard.

If it wasn't for C&C, I might've thought the voice tidbit was for IQ, but come on, it's definitely C&C. :lol

#10 (the upbeat one) is probably Sieges Even.

Kinda hope the IQ one is #14. I'm not sure anything else fits.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Purple nurple!!

I swear to god, I read TAC's post and thought "PURPLE NURPLE!" then 8 seconds later, Jingle delivers as if on cue.  :)   This place is awesome.

Got a ton more listening in today. Write-ups Sunday evening, I'm confident about the results now but want to have the weekend to ruminate on the writeups. SOON

Yesterday I listened to both Riverside albums and time for a weird opinion of my own - I feel both uplifted by them and that I could totally see playing them loud enough for the cops to come.  :) I'm still going with Sieges Even or Myrath for my guess for the uplifting album though.

It's currently sitting as my #1 for the year. Followed somewhat closely by the new Orphaned Land.

I don't fully get the love for this Ostura album, to be honest. It's a good one, and there are some great tracks, but it's not that outstanding, in my opinion.

Then again, the only 2018 albums I listened to are The Room and Firepower, so what do I know. :lol

i still haven't listened to it but ev is the expert on that style of symphonic/prog metal so i'm going in with lowered expectations whenever i do get around to it
