The Wilson Cup FINAL!

Welcome to the FINAL of The 2018 Wilson Cup!

On January 22nd, 50 songs began the Group Stage of this tournament, and now we have just 2 remaining, battling it out for the Championship! Both songs had to go through a tiebreaker vote in the semi-final stage, and both won by just 1 vote.

We have the 2013 SW Survivor Champion in The Raven That Refused to Sing, and a song that's only been in our consciousness for 6 months or so in Refuge. And your votes will decide who wins it all! While we're here, let's take a look at how these two songs got to the final:

ROUTE TO THE FINAL

The Raven That Refused to Sing
2nd in Group C: 24 points, 8 wins, 1 loss
Round of 16: Defeated My Book of Regrets 10-3
Quarter-Finals: Defeated Drive Home 7-4
Semi-Finals: Tied 6-6 with Ancestral; won tiebreaker 6-5

Refuge
1st in Group E: 25 points, 8 wins, 1 tie
Round of 16: Defeated Regret #9 8-4
Quarter-Finals: Defeated People Who Eat Darkness 7-3
Semi-Finals: Tied 6-6 with Routine; won tiebreaker 6-5

And so we're here at the Final. You have 48 hours to vote, and we will go to a tiebreaker if we need to.

This is why this has never been about finding out the forum favourite/the "best" SW song. So much of it is based on random, where if songs had been drawn against different songs, we may have had a completely different result.

Neither song is remotely close to being the best Steven Wilson solo tune. Not to say they're not both good - they certainly are - but Routine and Ancestral, for instance, are both far better than either track.

I don't usually express opinion as fact but fuck it, hasn't stopped others doing so in these threads so why not? Feels quite good :lol

I dunno, I think Raven is a well-deserved winner. Don't agree with Refuge being Top 2, but it's a fine song indeed.
