Tough question. My collection says 8 Rush albums and 5 from DP. I like Steve Morse and his ultra creamy tone and I think the last 2 Purple albums are really strong, but all in all it's Rush for me.

Rush. By far. Interestingly enough, however, I've never considered them classic rock.

Deep Purple is an iconic band, but I was actually never TRULY blown away by anything they did. Sure, some songs are great, some albums as whole are pretty darn good, but nothing ever struck me as genius or perfect. And that's coming from a guy that has been listening to Deep Purple for more than 10 years and saw them live.
This (except for the 10 years and seeing them live part)

Rush by a country mile. :lol

That mile driven in a Red Barchetta?

And then another mile driven by a Caravan! :metal

But the speed king Ian Gillan - driving his Highway Star - will be waiting for you at the finish line.  ;)

This is actually kind of tough for me. There's no Rush album I like as much as I love Machine Head, but I'm not really a massive Purple fan outside of that album (some songs here and there but no other complete albums). Don't think I can really pick one

Deep Purple, hands down. Why? Ian Gillan.

Easily Rush by a miles above,  steered by the airship across the sky!
Deep Purple is a great band though..

They're tied for 3rd place in my collection so we're talking about some of my favourite bands.

That said, Deep Purple.

Rush is the more consistent band overall, but they don't match Purple's highs.
