First one that comes to mind:

Jason Hervey.  He was in the first Back to the Future and The Wonder Years TV series for the duration.

What, no poll?

Not sure how you are defining "Worthless." I had to Google Jason Hervey. But that is probably more my issue than his. Just because he was possibly inconsequential to a TV series/film's overall success doesn't make him worthless. It's not like anyone ever said "So yeah I was going to check out that new show, but I saw Jason Hervey was in it, so I was all, no way Jack."

I still have no idea how Nick Cannon has remained relevant.

It still boggles my mind that the Kardashean's are famous and filthy rich because one of the daughters decided to shag a guy and have a sex tape released. How the 'F' they've remained 'famous' for so long is utterly baffling, yet....well....I'll stop there before I churn out commentary on the state of american culture today. All I can say is I guess america deserves them.

I would never call them 'classic' but I have no freaking idea how Justin Long still gets work

Haha, not this time.

Not sure how you are defining "Worthless."

For the context of this thread, I mean actors who aren't notable and/or aren't known for anything more than being lucky enough to end up in a classic TV show or film, meaning they weren't one of the reasons why the show or film was so good.

So, the Ringo Starrs of the TV/film world?

I just don't like to think of the Jason Herveys of the entertainment world as "worthless." Art is collaborative, and being a bit player can be just as hard as being a star. And that brother in The Wonder Years was integral to the success of the show.

But in the spirit of this thread, let me think of this and come up with some ones I would classify under your criteria.

Well sure, "the Wayner" was integral to the show, but Hervey is not worth a damn as an actor.  That is kind of what I mean.  Wasn't he in Pee Wee's Big Adventure, too (if we can call that a classic)?

So anyone could have played Wayne, and most anyone else could have done it just as well if not better?

Not necessarily. Hervey always seemed like a jerkoff in real life, so he didn't really even have to act in that role.  :lol :lol

Sam Worthington and January Jones springs to mind.
Also Jared Padalecki is lucky that Supernatural has lasted 13(?) seasons because he'd struggle to get work.
