As a massive fan of all things Mario and Petrucci... that was TOO COOL    :lol :metal

I exploded when JP suddenly appears and says "It's-a me" with his psycho exercises voice :rollin :rollin :rollin
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

That was pretty awesome.

Petrucci and the Mario Bros. actually have a lot in common.  They're both Italian, and...so, anyway... they have a lot in common.

Petrucci's messianic appearance is how I actually figure out to be the real deal whenever he enters a room.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

The other guy in the video with JP.

 :lol

But in seriousness Tim, if you are curious just click on his name on youtube and then click "about" if you want to know who he is. I've never heard of him, but that's pretty normal as anyone can make a name for themselves on youtube.  In this case, it says:

271k subscribers so he's doing something right with his covers to not only get fans, but to get a guitarist like JP to appear in a video.

Man I lost my shit when I saw this get uploaded! Not only have I been a fan of DT for 10 years, but I've been watching Jules for close to 4 years now, and it really felt like a full circle moment when I saw that him and John did a cover together (not to mention I've been playing Super Mario bros. since I was probably an infant lol). That was amazing to see. I highly recommend Jules to anyone who likes video game music. He makes really awesome covers, if you like DT you'd probably like his stuff, you can hear that prog metal influence.

That was fantastic. I follow a lot of these guitar youtubers, but I'd never heard of this guy. How cool would it be to be given one of those guitars?

Wait a minute... was he playing the fast part of that solo with a toy Mario hand?  :lol

Didn't seem to me like the video was properly synced to the audio.  I suspect they recorded it and then did air guitars to make the video.

This also reminds me of "The Dark Nintendo Night," which is still one of my favorite videos on YouTube.

Is JP using a Mario pick?
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I shared this on FB a couple days ago and haven't even got one "like" , and I have over 300 fb friends. Lame!
But yeah, the video is priceless and I wish something like this would happen to me. To get to jam with JP and get rewarded a Majesty Monarchy guitar would be a dream come true!  If that did happen to me, I would soon wake up out of the dream realizing it was too good to be true..

John Petrucci looks like a kindly man you encounter after being lost in the woods for weeks. He has a nice, comfy log cabin and gives you some homemade moose burgers and lets you pet his gargantuan pet black bear, Majesty. He then leads you back to town, showing you all sorts of cool things in the woods that you missed while wandering around lost. All the while, he's giving you life advice that uplifts your spirits and puts you on the right track (even though you didn't even know that you had lost your way).

Also, video's super cool. Wish they would've come back to the theme after the solo, because I love how JP plays that. His tone is just so right. How much that Jules guy is loving every second of this is so cool too.
