I'm still lacking a song from one person, but everyone else is in and I'm about to start my first listen.

Since we're now locked with 9 participants, I can reveal how the stars will be distributed. This table indicates which star you will get, depending upon where your song ranks.

Their value is infact greater than 0.

I did consider having the bottom one or two (depending on how many signed up) receive nothing, but with only five rounds I thought that would make it too difficult for people to make a comeback.

i mean, the end result is that everyone gets at least the value of a pink star, which makes them in practice worthless

Yeah, I guess they are just a holdover from a system where there was something of lower value (nothing). Still, I don't want to remove them now because the point difference between the other stars and nothing could be too great. It worked with ten rounds but with only five this time I think less volatility is better.

to be honest the one I didn't send is probably just as good, I knew from the beginning I wanted to send one of those.

I think that long song is Jupiter by Sufjan Stevens, James McAlister and a few other guys, I have no idea what the complete artist name is. That might be home who sent it.

Probably because with 2017 the picks are very limited, and I've listened to a ton of music last year and those I didn't listen to I've probably seen in roulettes or best of 2017 threads. That '/' gave away the Brand New song for me.

Oh and there's a song by The Hirsch Effekt that could be either Berceuse or Inukshuk sent by Parama. Why no Xenophotobia??

Exactly this, there are like 20 bands I'm pretty confident will be sent here, so I can just check if they fit the underscorses.

There's still hundreds of albums to chose from. But I guess when you know the tastes and regular submissions of many of the players, then it does compute.

For example, I haven't read about this album on DTF at all (probably just missed it) but because it's a fairly popular one amongst prog-releases of 2017 I still know the band name and style of music despite not having heard a note of their music: Daydream XI. Probably yours?
