There are certainly some similarities, but most of that comes from the horizontal symmetry you get when you superimpose certain letters on each other.  Someone once said that the Majesty logo is basically all the letters in the word "Majesty" written on top of each other.  When you look more closely, that might be true, but some of the letters must be pretty stylized for that to work.  The letter "T" is the first thing I see in Timberlake's logo, and there's at least one way for form a "J" from the rest of it, but the Timberlake logo looks more like a cool design made by superimposing some shapes.

Probably the primary difference is that the Timberlake logo has straight lines forming most of the "outer border" whereas the Majesty logo features the "O" more prominently surrounding things.

I'm getting more of a Deathly Hallows vibe from the Timberlake logo.

The similarity is certainly accidental and the logo is still great. It would be cool, though, if Justin happened to be inspired by the DT logo, but the chances are slim to nil.  :tup

The joke, of course, will be on us when JT plays a medley of Ytse Jam, Under A Glass Moon, and Innocence Faded in the middle of his set.  :lol

I hope he doesn't do that again.  It was cool the first time he did it, but after three tours, it is getting old.

JT just isn't the same once he went to the static setlist.  I liked it when he mixed it up every show.  ;)

Well, it isn't a coincidence that that change happened right at the time his long time drummer left and they brought in a new guy.  The old drummer was responsible for the set lists.

Timberlake is calling this tour the "Man Of The Woods" tour, and the logo is nothing more than a conglomeration of the letters M, O, T and W.

That being said, using the parlance of trademark law, I think DT could make a fairly decent argument that the two logos are confusingly similar.  However, other elements of the various tests used in trademark infringement cases would probably militate against a finding of infringement.

It thought their logo was made from the letters in "Dominici" superimposed over top of each other?

Honestly, that looks more like a Fullmetal Alchemist transmutation circle. Are they a band made up entirely of people who lost their mothers and have heavy metal limbs? Do they try to bring back their dead mothers every concert? I can just imagine their rehearsals.

"Alright, boys, the circle is drawn and we have all the ingredients. We're going to rock so hard it's going to bring our mothers back!"

"This seems like a terrible idea."

"Al, why are you like this? Every time we try to bring our mothers back with the power of rock'n'roll you gotta rain on our parade."

"I only have so many limbs to lose, Ed. Do you know how hard it is to do hammer-ons with a metal arm without breaking your guitar neck in half?"

"I miss mom."

"Shut up Nina, or we're fusing you with a dog again."

Although I think it's pretty well established that Charlie created the Majesty symbol, I think it's a coincidence that all of the letters in "Dominici" can be made from it.  It's seriously not possibly to get all of the letters of "Majesty" without some serious straining.  If someone wants to start the Phi Lambda Mu fraternity, it would make a great logo.

Just a point of clarification:  Charlie did not create it.  He adapted the royal monogram of Mary, Queen of Scots:  https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Royal_Monogram_of_Mary,_Queen_of_Scots,_as_Queen_of_France.svg  But, yes, your point about it being mere coincidence of all of the letters of his name can be derived from the shapes in the logo is correct.

Ah yes, that's rings bells.  Maybe what I'm (mis)remembering is that they chose it as the Majesty logo because of the prominent "M", and someone else said that thing about the letters (which never really worked for me anyway).

If you look at the FAQ examples that Kim (AKA Noxon) put together, I wouldn't even say Chuckie adapted it. More like he appropriated it!  :P
