Spotify Wrapped v.2023
« on: December 05, 2017, 02:55:42 PM »
Heey,
I think we have quite some Spotify users here. Spotify had this cool overview of what you've listened to the past year (Spotify Wrapped) So here's a thread to show your stats!

Go to: https://spotifywrapped.com/

Not a lot of surprises here for me. I guess I listened slightly more to Olafur Arnalds than I realised (it's great music for studying). Sacred Shapes is mainly there because it's a fun song to play along with on guitar :p

Cool feature! Here's mine:

I mainly use Spotify to discover new music, then I get the albums or songs. I listen music with itunes and have my ipod and phone synced with my itunes library. So, this doesn't represent what I truly listen the most, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Does that show only on the desktop or on the app as well?

My one will be totally skewed as I only use Spotify for discovering new music, I use my iPod for my normal listening.

My Spotify listening habits are a bit different than my at-home listening habits and especially off from what I listen to in the car (where I listen to most of my music) so this isn't entirely accurate overall, but I mean, I can't lie, I listen to Awake and Africa a lot in any given year anyway...

This is what it gave me.

Doesn't make much sense. I checked out some Warrant, but I didn't spend too much time with them.

Also, I gave SOA a number of tries, but I'm surprised it made the list.

Very cool feature, doesn't do justice to how much music I listen to though since about half of it is on CD and streamed off my personal stash...

Needless to say, I had a serious phase with TesseracT earlier this year, Concealing Fate was 24/7 for about a month...

Cool feature, too lazy/inept to paste my image. I wonder if Derek was able to tweak the algorithm somehow, as I am not the first person here to be surprised to see SoA on my list. Otherwise lots of Ghost, stuff from my roulette, and Monkees, because yes I get in a Monkee mood from time to time.

Hmmmm.

Top Artists make sense.  I've been listening to lot more Papa Roach than I thought I would.  Top songs make sense.  I was surprised on how often I was listening to Halestorm's cover of Damn, I wish I was Your Lover.

Post-Grunge as top genre.  I would have thought Alternative Metal would edge it out, but maybe, I'm not sick of Post-Grunge as I thought I was and  maybe there's still some good stuff out there in that category.

The later half of the year has been filled with more opera, classical, and Haley.

I'm in the group that only use Spotify for discovery. I don't even remember what my most listened to artist (according to this page) sounds like. :lol

last.year on Last.fm come January will be much more indicative of my listening habits this year.

Well, here's mine - from the phone app ;) DT... that's because my bass practice is mainly playing along to DT tracks and I'm using Spotify for that... but, my 2017 journey with Threshold, Ayreon, Haken and many others was also sponsored by Spotify ;)

This also doesn't do my listening justice.  I've downloaded a lot of Spotify tracks, which probably don't get counted.  Spotify is only about 25% (at best) of my listening.  last.fm says I've got 15,000+ scrobbles, which is my lowest in 5 years.  Ironically, being off work for 9 months actually reduced my listening habits.

I was thinking about this thread this morning. Is this year's Spotify Wrapped available to access yet?

This is the first year I've had Spotify Premium so it'll be interesting to see my stats. I've mainly used it for checking out new releases and albums I've been meaning to listen to  :corn

Edit: yep it's available check it here

My stats:

35,043 minutes; 414% increase over last year
Judas Priest was my favorite artist; Journey was my first :heybaby:
Top Song playlist - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1Ejq3IclIYsum3 (invariably all Roulette songs)
"You listened to non-mainstream artists 161% more than the average Spotify listener".  (that's it!?!?!?!)

All this does is show how little I used Spotify this year. 2,628 minutes. I generally only use it to sample things, occasionally listening to singles or individual songs, so I guess it's just been a slower year for me.

Last.year on Last.fm will be a lot more interesting for me. Although it looks like my number of scrobbles will be around half of what I averaged the last few years.

Yea totally, I've clocked up over 20,000 listens this year so far. I just love stats  :lol

Uhh yeah this is insane :lol I literally do all my listening through Spotify

The "favourite genres" tab was pretty interesting too:

Honestly no clue how punk landed in my top genres, I almost never listen to punk. Spotify genre labels are weird man..
