Yeah yeah, I decided to do #1 first and then #2, #3 and #4 I still need to decide because while #2 is definitely better than #4, I'm not sure yet whether #3 is closer to #2 or #4. The bottom 2 turned out to be really close after all so those will be together. Can I just say that you guys are unbelievably bad at hangman? I don't think you've completed it a single time before I started doing results :lol you just all give up at some point simultaneously.

This one just has a combination of vocal styles that sounds pretty unique, and the instrumentation on this song is really stellar; groovy, chuggy, sludgy, it has it all. The execution is great, high replay value, good mixing. Similar to some songs in this round, this had a couple of brief moments that got me pleasantly surprised, but there was nothing that really detracted from it either, so in the end this just barely edged out the #2. I secretly checked out one more song on the album and found those clean vocals on there to be better, so I might really dig this one.

The band name is stupid as fuck though, winning round 7 is: King Goat with Conduit by Elite

1. King Goat - Conduit
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

And yeah that's Skindred - Nobody by luke, which only leaves the top name for TAC

I saw them play that album in full last year, fucking amazing. Everyone outside during the intermission said their whole personas and stage decoration was pretentious but I thought it fit the music perfectly.

Anywaay, 2nd place goes to the song I was thinking of handing the crown up until the very last listen. One of the most 'complete' black metal tunes I have heard in a long time, the vocals stay exciting throughout the whole thing which can be tough to pull off for me with the genre. The quiet section is nice, and doesn't pull me out of the song at all, but then the instrumental outro is what really lifts it up to the level it is. They could have gone with a choir-y/operatic ending which is honestly what I expected from this type of song, but instead they throw in some ridiculously crushing riffs and inhumane drumming additions, and of course dat violin, goddamn. Great song, even better outro.

Finisterre by Der Weg Einer Freiheit ladies and gentlemen! Can't believe I haven't checked out this album yet with me being so active with 2017 releases last year.

The next two were very closely matched mostly because I liked them for very different reasons, there's also very little overlap between the two except for the fact that they are both super heavy (this might have been the heaviest round on average lol). The one that just edged out the other for #3 I liked for its huge epic sound. Bombastic operatic atmosphere throughout the whole intro, then when the vocals kick in it's this barrage of melo-death like guitarwork and more deathcore-related vocals and it just works, very well. Lonestar takes the bronze of this round with Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience II - The Algorithm.

Next up, the #4, when I mentioned in a different writeup some songs had really high highs but not much else to make up for that quality I was mostly referring to this song. The main riff is incredibly catchy and the sheer insanity of some of the vocals in the first half complemented by thick aggressive guitarwork caught my attention right away. I like how it doesn't follow the standard mold of most metalcore songs you'd hear, with the extended bass groove going on near the middle moving in to the final part of the song. At some points I definitely threw this in with most of the Architects material I've heard though, which I consider to be a very overrated band even though they're mostly solid. Core vocals similar to those are a bit tough for me to sit through with songs of this length. Still this was a great song, and judging by the writeup this is obviously Hive Minds by Norma Jean sent by LordCost.

So now it's between twosuitsluke and TAC :corn

twosuitsluke: Skindred - Nobody
TAC: Morari - I Dream of Flight

Results before I leave for work, so probably in about 3 to 4 hours

Bad news TACman and Lukeman, I'm still undecided and have to leave for work in 10 minutes. It's also very likely that I won't be back to my computer until tomorrow afternoon so no final results until then probably :(

Weakest average

I'm almost ready guys, prepare!  :corn :corn :corn :corn

This is basically Alcest + Agalloch, and on paper I should really dig that. But sometimes, even if all boxes are ticked off something just doesn't click. For me personally, it could be that Alcest mostly makes use of their high clean vocals when accompanied by the lighter guitar tones, and go into the growls when the instrumentals get more dark and brooding. Here it feels a bit contradictory with the light psychedelic tones and harsh vocals combined. This did grow on me though.

Well, they're compared to Ill Nino on Spotify and that definitely makes sense, those tribal vocal noises he makes reminds me of them (and Down With the Sickness lol). In conclusion, this was a really catchy song, definitely one that got stuck in my head a lot during this round, but I'm not sure that was for the better. The guitarwork was pretty sick and had a nice groove to it, but I just don't know if this can really compete with what I've been given this round.

I think I have to give the edge to the atmospheric Agalloch-like tune in favour of the nu-metal track here. Sorry Luke, you've come far, but at this point the competition was too strong.

1. King Goat - Conduit
2. Der Weg Einer Freiheit - Finisterre
3. Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience II - The Algorithm
4. Norma Jean - Hive Minds
5. Morari - I Dream of Flight
6. Skindred - Nobody

I hope you can all still send before the end of the weekend, this round's description is in the OP, you have to send me 2 songs (no flow points awarded). Weakest average will be eliminated.
