I feel like it spends a lot of time uncertain whether it's building up to something and then just ends on a low note with some completely newly introduced female vocals.
also regarding this
1. the female vocalist has a few bits on If or When iirc
2. it's a reprise of self-inflicted disguise that kind of brings the album full circle

i will agree that the title track isn't one of the stronger songs though but the competition is strong  :lol
i feel like if or when is the real climax of the album though, the "wait for me..." bit that starts at 4:15 up until the title drop bit is just intense

Yeah, might actually be one of the most intense moments on the album. And the clean section leading up to it was really nice. Didn't know those female vocals were on If or When? But the cleans in the beginning do sound like a different guy than the lead vocalist. That Self-Inflicted Disguise bit is cool, never in my numerous amounts of listens caught that.

The competition really was strong, it's a great bunch of songs and I really dig the album. According to what I've read I might like the new one even better, but not sure.

the new one is a lot more focused on the vocals in general & the lyrics suck but there's still some good stuff. to sever the strings might actually be the band's best song and the ballad track on the album was smart enough to only be like 2 minutes long this time. i like it but i don't love it the way i love sunlight

The colors in the ranking makes the battle for the 1st place less close than what I imagined.
Congratulations Elite!

The song rankings may differ from overall album quality though as I said.

If it's any consolation, the 2nd 'best of' compilation CD is pretty much the Parama CD plus 3 other songs

CD 1: Ladies and Gentlemen, We're Dancing In Space
This one is a compilation of some of the less metal stuff. It still has metal on it, don't get me wrong, but barely any growls and mostly fun, dancy or just all around cool stuff. Tracklist:

1. The Family Crest - Beneath the Brine
2. Cardiacs - Wind and Rains is Cold
3. OWEL - Float
4. Snarky Puppy - Gone Under (ft. Shayna Steele)
5. Jolly - The Pattern
6. Bear Ghost - Necromancin Dancin
7. Semistereo - The Search
8. Port Noir - Black from the Ink
9. Tool - Parabola
10. Underoath - Paper Lung

Won't bore you with the lengths, just listen through the whole thing :corn it's really good, definitely my favourite of the 2 CDs.

CD 2: Parama and 3 Other Pretty Cool Songs
I honestly just picked the best songs that fell under the 'heavy' category for this one, some stuff here is classified as extreme metal, avant-garde metal, deathcore, tech death, atmospheric death, post metal. Tons of variety but all songs share the similarity that they're fucking heavy. Only listen if you're a super trained true metuhl fan. Tracklist:

1. Aenaon - Oneirodynia
2. Der Weg Einer Freiheit - Finisterre
3. Exist - Writhe
4. Ezerath - A Heart, an Eye, and a Womb
5. Enslaved - Hiindsiight
6. Obscure Sphinx - Lunar Caustic
7. Enshine - Resurgence

Note that I didn't pick literally my top 17 songs of the roulette for this one, for the most part they are my absolute favourites, but I also wanted to try to make the albums somewhat cohesive, which is why I picked Wind and Rains is Cold by Cardiacs for example, that said the first CD is definitely all over the place and not really an album, but I tried. :lol

Just missed the cut :(

Yeah, I guess it's more of a leftover CD of music that can be described without the use of the words post, death or black :lol

I really dislike the guy who does all the talky bits from the end of north shore onwards, his way of speaking just really irritates me
