Raleigh 11-28-2017 Show

vasgroup:
Awesome show! Started on time (love bands that do that) at 8pm and played to 11pm with, I'm guessing, a 20 minute intermission. Early setlists showed 5th song to be Don't Look Past Me but is now The Spirit Carries On. As much as I would like to have heard DLPM, SCO is a favorite. Never fail to be impressed by these musicians and their music's complexity.

Saw comments elsewhere about JLB's voice. Sounded spot on to me, but then I wear hearing aids (volume turned down). Any nits I thought were due more to the sound engineer. They could have lifted his voice a bit. But by the end my wife and I were asking "How the heck does he do that for 3 hours?" I gather his odd banter has become a new trademark of theirs.

Saw TA in Durham at the DPAC a year ago (fantastic!) and the crowd sat through the entire performance. I think because folks thought in terms of watching a theatrical performance which it most certainly was (would be cool to see TA made into a stage musical with actors playing/singing the parts with the band on the stage). At last night's concert, the entire audience stood the whole time. Here, instead of a themed show, it was a collection of good stuff, new and old.

My only complaint is the venue. DPAC is infinitely superior to Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Not only the acoustics but also the seating layout. I'd have to drive further but it's worth it.

Envious of those in Asheville going to tonight's show. Be prepared to be amazed.

Agreed 100%. Amazing show. I thought that everyone sounded fantastic. I wish I could make it to Asheville but, alas, it is too far a trek. Excited to hear James say that NC has become something of a permanent stop for them. He said he would see us again in 2019.

Ben_Jamin:
oh, they're keeping with TSCO, nice.

Agreed, it was a great show last night, and great to hang out with the band afterwards. And yes, DPAC is a much better venue.

vtgrad:
It was an awesome show... never disappointed with DT.  Had I known that the seats I chose where DIRECTLY in front of the floor-boxed Bass monitors, I likely would have chosen different seats!  Seems like the engineer raised JLB and JP during the IAW part of the set though, and it was probably a good thing... from my seat (front row, far right side) I could see behind JP's stack of Mesas and James looked like he was trying to work something out with hand-signals during the first set... and he was animated!

Geez Hef... should have asked you if you guys were going to be there; would have loved to met up with you again!  My wife and I went to The Pit before the show... best chopped pork I've had in a long time; just as good as when Ed Mitchell was there I think.

And by the way... how do we normal people get to hang out with the guys after the show?
