A typical Youtube shredder who can play all of Stream Of Consciousness might struggle with those solos because of vibrato and bends, and it would sound amatuerish
Jordan took Moore's boring, pedestrian parts and elevated them considerably to take them from barely palatable to stellar.

I've never taken the time to learn any DT solos to perfection. I learned Under a Glass Moon solo by tab, but could never play it up to speed.
I do know a few of their riffs, which are a lot of fun to play. The intro to OTBOA is really cool. I'll play that around other musicians sometimes and they ask, what the heck is that? Lol

You can do a lot in a lifetime if you don't burn out too fast, you can make the most of the distance, first you need endurance first you've got to last....... NP

When I read the title, These Walls came immediately to mind. Sure enough, it was included. One of my favorite Petrucci solos. So simple, yet super effective. The song itself is perfect, too.

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.

The easiest for this former kinda guitar player were, at that time, among these:

-Wither
-In the Presence of Enemies (the main theme "solo" in Part 1)
-Learning to Live (surprinsingly enough, all of them, which IIRC are three)
-These Walls (mmm, not really a <solo per se>, more like a melody or arrangement, but, as Sycsa says, very easy to play anyways)
-Peruvian Skies

No LITS?  Not surprised, but it's an amazing solo that isn't really hard to learn learn.
In high school my buddies and I built a Van Der Graaf generator.  You know, to get girls.

As if solos aren't melodies.

Difficult to hear a melody in Michael Angelo Batio's Freight Train solo or any other of his for that matter. IMO, of course!

These Walls has got to be their easiest by far. Also there are a lot of parts in the ending solo to Octavarium that are fairly easy.
Check out my various music projects - I’ve got concept albums, singer/songwriter, rock, metal, prog, and more coming soon:

I know, I know, and I like MAB a lot in fact. This guy has a tremendous technique, hyper clean and the cheese factor up to 11. But he's not a good songwriter and the technique overpowers what I call melody most of the time.
