11. AMERICAN SOLDIER

American Soldier is the eleventh studio album by  Queensr˙che; it is a concept album released on March 31, 2009. As its title suggests, American Soldier revolves around the lives and experiences of those who serve or have served in the United States armed forces.

- Scott Rockenfield - drums

some additional personnel:
- Emily Tate - vocals on "Home Again"
- Jason Ames - vocals on "Silver" and "If I Were King"
- A. J. Fratto - vocals on "Silver"
- Vincent Solano - vocals on "A Dead Man's Words"
- Kelly Gray - guitars
- Damon Johnson - guitars
- Randy Gane - keyboards

Moving forward to the next Queensryche album - American Soldier. From that one, only the best song is qualified into the finals, and the second best song into consolations. My opinion about that album? It's a bit blend, but it definitly has it's moments. It's definitly not the best performance from Geoff... I find his vocals unispiring on some tracks from Soldier... We have to start from something, it will be Middle Of Hell for me.

American Soldier certainly has its moments but as a whole it's nowhere near as satisfying as OM2. I'll be shocked if anything makes it to the Top 3 that's not Dead Man's Words, Hundred Mile Stare, and At 30,000 Feet! My vote goes to the incredibly dull closer, The Voice

This album is terrible. For a concept album about the literal mental hell that soldiers go through every day of their lives, this album sure is uninspired, bland & completely uninteresting. Geoff sounds bored out of his mind, the guitarists are barely audible, & the rhythm section isn't really doing anything other than keeping the beat. It's one thing to take a more sentimental approach with an album, but doing so at least requires someone to care for more than 0.03 seconds to make it actually tolerable. It's so boring that if literally every song was exactly the same, I wouldn't have noticed any difference. It's just an hour long pseudo-emotional attempt at what made Queensryche so great from a group of people who've clearly lost their passion (or at least that's how the music makes it sound).

Yeah, sorry for the rant, this album pissed me off.

^ While plenty of tracks bored me out of my mind, this was the only one that actively made me angry with how little emotion came off in a performance about a heavily emotional subject. & why did they think the kid singing was a good idea?

I'm going with Middle Of Hell as well.

There are several great songs in here.  :tup

Remember Me, ironically, is the most forgettable song.

Home Again, for sure.

This album is pretty decent with the first half being pretty strong IMO.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Also, the first track is called "Sliver", not "Silver"

It looks like Home Again will be the first to go, which I find disappointing because the music is very pretty; there's more to a song besides vocals. Had Geoff and his daughter put in better performances, I think this one could have been really powerful, as opposed to Middle of Hell, The Killer, and The Voice, which would be rubbish tracks no matter who was singing.

Okay, so I'm going to try (keyword: try) to listen to this again now that my expectations have been lowered from the first time. Hopefully I'll actually be able to get a complete ranking from this listen, but I can't guarantee.  :\
