MetropoLARS- The China and the St Anger Snare
« on: October 11, 2017, 06:43:17 PM »
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaI7JMNcviw

I don't know if any of you have heard of Josh Steffan, but he does some pretty great drum covers of multiple artists.  For the past year or so, he does song covers in a Lars Ulrich style, and they are pretty good and have some pretty good Lars-isms. Now, Dream Theater gets the Lars Treatment. The outro starting at 9:15 is great.

He's got MP's splash, stacks, and hi hat patterns and fills down to a T. I close my eyes and think it's Portnoy sometimes

I literally couldn't stop laughing during the whole video. This is priceless  :rollin
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

This guy’s Lars covers are pure genius. Some of them actually work (Psychosocial sounded awesome) and then some of them don’t but are funny (like this one). His regular drum covers are great as well.

He's funny and has the drummers' idiosyncrasies to a T. Plus, he's really a very good drummer.

I was wondering if this would make it to DTF. I've been following this guy for a while. Amazing drummer. Unfortunately you won't find too many DT covers because he's not a fan of James' voice, but is a big MP fan which is why he tolerates several of the band's songs.

Do you know if he’s said anything about Mangini?

I can't recall how he feels about Mangini as a drummer, but as far as him in Dream Theater, he has no interest with the band after MP left.

Oh, man, that’s sad, but it’s his opinion, so I respect that. I just wanted him to cover some of the MM era DT songs. Guess that’ll never happen :-\

Hey, where's the link to the videos where a guy played Mangini-era songs as if MP played them? It wasn't this guy, but someone equally impressive...
