Adding Iced Earth to my list. Possibly twice - Indianapolis and Chicago, about a month apart. Bring on February!
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

Ok, just strolled through Bandsintown, and I think I got a lineup for the beginning of the year. Gonna put it here so I can keep track, and I'll edit as the year rolls. In a perfect world, I'll catch all of these and then some...

Jan 31 - Intervals @ Oakland Metro Operahouse (I will not be missing this one)
Feb 10 - Sabaton @ UC Theater
Mar 4 - Contortionist/Skyharbor @ Cornerstone in Berkeley
Apr 5 - Protest the Hero @ Slim's
May 11 - Steven Wilson @ The Fillmore

That's a hell of a start to the year if I do say so myself...

Steven Wilson three nights at the Royal Albert Hall! Ahhh! This will also be my first time in the UK :caffeine:

Then I'll see him again in Denver in May.

Also Lez Zeppelin and Dixie Dregs, which I'm sure will be a blast.

And probably a few things at Red Rocks in the summer, but I don't see how their 2018 season could top this year since I got to see two of my absolute favorite bands (Opeth and Muse) at one of the most beautiful venues in existence. We shall see- schedule so far is meh.

February 15th - Sons of Apollo @ House of Independents, Asbury Park NJ
February 18th - Less Than Jake @ Starland Ballroom, Sayreville NJ
March 14th - Nightwish @ Playstation Theater, New York NY
April 20th - Kamelot and Delain @ Irving Plaza, New York NY
September 5th-9th - ProgPower USA XIX @ Center Stage, Atlanta GA (booked my flight today   :metal )

Really considering going to:

March 3rd - Sabaton, Kreator, Cyhra @ House of Blues, Boston MA

I really would love to see Cyhra as I'm loving their debut album, sadly they aren't playing close to me and the closest dates are during the week which makes it difficult to do but that Boston show is on a Saturday in a city I love to visit.

Currently have tickets to:

Battle Beast/Delain/Kamelot - April 26
ProgPower USA - 9/5-9/8

Interested in:

Sons of Apollo - hopefully they'll announce some more tour dates.  Crossing my fingers for a Pittsburgh show.
Threshold - they're going to play RoSFest in Gettysburg on May 5.  It'd be cool to see them, but they're the only band I'm interested in that lineup.

So far I only have tickets for Ólafur Arnalds in may. Should be quite a special show tho. I'm pretty confident I will go see Elder as well, and am still considering seeing Steven Wilson again.

I see Bon Jovi is going on tour and this show looks to be of interest to me:

April 7th - Bon Jovi @ Prudential Center, Newark NJ

Tickets went on sale and I scooped a couple up for the GF and I for this show.  I also got a ticket for the May 9th Bon Jovi show at MSG.  I may go, I may sell it, we'll see how I feel.  But I scooped up that ticket cause I LOVE sitting in the Chase Bridge at MSG and there's not many of those tickets available so I got one in case I want to go.  He sells out these local shows for his home town so I have no reason to think I couldn't get my money back if I wanted.

So far, I have tickets for:

Eric Johnson
Neal Morse
The Decemberists

Considering David Bryne, but the only friend I have in town who is also a fan doesn't really want to go, and not sure I want to go to a concert in downtown St Louis by myself.

I'll be at this one. It's my only confirmed concert of the year so far. Debating on a couple of others. Probably not worth the $ though.

1/25/18 - Metal Allegiance
1/27/18 -  The Adicts
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

First concert of the year was a few nights ago so I suppose it's time to get this year's list going. Will be very tough for 2018 to even equal last year for me as far as live music.

1/20- Umphrey's McGee- Beacon Theater, New York NY- I saw these guys about 8 or 9 years ago and I've been trying to catch another show since. These guys can flat out play, and they're clearly having a blast on stage
2/15- Sons of Apollo- House of Independents, Asbury Park NJ
2/18- G3 Tour- New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark NJ
4/28- Steven Wilson- Playstation Theater, New York NY
4/29- Steven Wilson- Playstation Theater, New York NY

I've already had bad scheduling luck claim a couple shows in February as my homebrew club's annual competition overlaps with a local Thank You Scientist show, and I've got prior plans with friends the night of the Neal Morse singer/songwriter show in NYC. Even Steven Wilson isn't definite, I though if I miss his shows it'll be because I'm on a once in a lifetime trip to Belgium, so can't be too mad about that :D

I saw Queens of the Stone Age a few nights ago, with Eagles of Death Metal opening the show. I didn't know any EoDM songs, but, wow, they were hugely entertaining.

The only other show I have tickets for so far this year is Nightwish in April.
