On Satriani.com, he just announced a new album and a G3 Tour with John Petrucci.
Finally the second JP album will be released?! Let's see...
Also, a Satriani album with Glenn Hughes and Chad Smith!!! :o :o :o

Because of Hughes, I'll certainly be buying the record, or at least the tracks with Hughes on vocals. As for the tour, I think it is a cool bill having JP and Phil Collen. The latter is a surprising (at least to me) choice, and makes the show appealing.

The problem is, my local gig is a Sunday night. And I'm old. So, likely not gonna happen.  :lol

Hmm...that might be doable for me.

I saw the teaser the other day and loved the riff. Reminded me of The Extremist album. But Glenn Hughes? I really can't stand that whiny voice. I'd rather hear Joe sing.

Might have to check this G3 tour out. They are playing the venue DT has played the last few tours in Greensburg, PA.

Satriani is one of my favorites who I haven't seen and I've always wanted to go to G3. Hopefully I'll be able to make the KC date.

Of course, they're playing DC on frickin' Valentine's Day  :(

Reading that, it says Glenn Hughes is on bass so maybe he won't be singing. Fingers crossed.
Hope G3 makes its way over yo the uk.

That could work.  Alternatively, you could sleep through Satriani's set and I'll wake you for the encore jam.

If, by some strange reason, Glenn Hughes is there, there will be no sleeping through Satch. But if he's not, yeah, just wake me for the encore.

Even though I'm not a big Def Leppard fan ( Even though they are good),, it will be interesting to see what Phil Collin can pull out of the hat..

It's been a long time since I got excited over a new Satriani release, the last ones all have been solid but nothing more.

A Satch & Petrucci concert might be interesting but I'm not sure about Phill Collen. Always thought that Steve Clark were the more interesting player in Def Leppard and I never really listened to the post-Hysteria stuff.

I really hope Phil Collen keeps his bloody shirt on for these gigs. It's bad enough him oiling himself up for the part of the Def Leppard crowd that it presumably appeals to but I don't see it being appropriate for the G3 crowd!

I reckon he's got the chops for it so it's going to be interesting to see what he does in this context and how well he comes across in the jams.

Chad Smith is a good and groovy drummer, Glen Hughes isn't that bad when he's not singing.

Satch got killer bass players in the past but they didn't play a greater role in his music. Pretty sure every decent bass player can fill that spot.

I just hope JP plays new material. Maybe that is what Mangini's recording session was gor earlier this year (a new JP album).

Well, personally I'm a big fan of both!
On a side note, JP confirmed on Facebook that the band are again him, Mangini and LaRue  :tup
