2017 NCAA Football Discussion
« on: August 29, 2017, 03:04:13 PM »
Well, the season actually already started last weekend with the rest of the league getting their first games in this upcoming weekend.

I am a very excited PSU fan this year, after the surprising success of last year, there is now expectations to win the Big 10 and be in the playoff discussions.  Given the talent, I think they have a good shot and I think the Big 10 conference could come down to the PSU at OSU game.

This week they start against Akron and it shouldn't be much of a game, but would like to see the team start strong.  Then next weekend I make my way to happy valley for the in state rival game against Pitt and hopefully we get our revenge.

How's everyone else feeling about this season?  Excited?

New coach taking over a shambles of a program at Cal, and a tough run in the first half of the schedule with Ole Miss, USC, Oregon, Wash, Wazoo. I'll be happy to score 4 wins, but we'll see. Finally happy to have a sport I can support back though, I can't stand the NFL anymore, and well, MLB...I'm a Giant's fan, so that season was over  a long time ago.

Anyhoo, here's to the only team with an official DTF emote.... :gobears:

On Wisconsin!

Our best LB is already out for the year with an ACL, but Bucky should be good enough to be in the Big 10 Championship again.

Yea, they don't have to battle with the B10E.  Wisconsin has it so good  :lol  Nebraska and Northwestern should be good teams, but it still seems Wisconsin should win the west.

Cautiously optimistic Husker fan here. New 3-4 defense and new QB and a pretty young team with a REALLY tough schedule. 8 wins would be great but it will be tough going. At Oregon and Penn State. Wisconsin and Ohio State at home. Plus Northwestern and Iowa. The upside is that we had a great recruiting year and should be a solid team next year.

I'll be interested to see if Urban Meyer has realized that his offensive scheme is a steaming pile of shit yet.

It was fun hanging out at some Rutgers bars last night during their game against Washington.  Lots of Washington fans, maybe more so than Rutgers fans hitting the bars before the game.  Well they stink and don't really care for them, but was cool to experience a different school's game day atmosphere.

It was also nice to see PSU give a thorough beating to an inferior team in week 1.  52-0 with all the big players making big plays.  Onto Pitt next weekend, going to be a great time meeting up with lots of people for a big tailgate and a rivalry game.

Just discovered Coastal Carolina has a teal turf field! I'm in love.  That's going on the bucket list along with Boise State.

GO HOKIES!  What an exciting game!

It sucks that Harvey pounded Texas, because Hurricane Maryland wrecked them too.  I also heard that Texas A&M changed their name to the Gaggies.  And now Baylor is a debacle off and on the field.

And as always, fuck Noter Damn.

Amen brother.

I just watched the replay of the UCLA game.  Wow.  The fact that Gus Johnson was the play by play made it even better.

PSU didn't play all that well imo but it was a fun day in happy valley with just shy of 110,000 folks, plus always nice to see Ohio State get spanked.  That hurts the big ten, but I'm I like seeing Urban getting spanked in 2/3 of his last games.

And SoCal have two pro teams they don't care about.  ::)

That UT/UF ending was insane, and the Texas USC game was great just because Gus Johnson had the call.

I can't believe how bad they are, thought they'd be much better.

PSU wins another 50+ to 0 game against a much inferior team.  Don't really get to learn much about the team in these games, but this week primetime at Iowa is going to be a real challenge.  We spanked them last year, but night games in Iowa City are really tough (ask Michigan last year) and I've seen top ranked PSU teams go into that environment and lose as well.

It's modern times.  What 21 year old kid wants to go live in a cornfield?  Can't get those elite prospects to go to what is literally the middle of nowhere.  Oregon State has Beavers, and if you are a straight dude, beaver is better than corn any day, and I love corn.

But seriously, if you lose to Rutgers, I'll call the suicide watch hotline for you and everyone in your state.
