Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Likely the Porcupine Tree one, you seem to prefer vocalists with strong voice and energic performances :P

Will be interesting to see the song selection for Katatonia.  They have some bland stuff but some real gems also.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I see AL being the deal breaker vocals but I personally love the guys voice!

Oh wait, actually it's probably East of the Wall, those vocals are lame :neverusethis:

It's good but not according to you  ;D

Just another band added in TAC's crash course in modern prog metal bands. I sent yesterday morning at 6:30 in a desperate search for a song before going to work and I'm not sure about the submission, but I hope to be lucky again.

This will be a quick round folks. While the last round was easily my favorite, this one was easily my least favorite. The scores will not be very high, but that pretty much goes for everybody, so it's all relative.

Results tonight!

Parama...East Of The Wall-False Build

So False Build was the perfect title for this track. For the first 3:20, instrumentally this was very good. In fact, I was starting to think this might be an instrumental. And then Bam! out of nowhere come some of the most hideous vocals I've heard in this roulette. Why does any band think this is necessary?

6.5

Shadow Ninja 2.0...Landon Tewers-Findlay

Ninja, I appreciate the submission, I really do. But I could just not get into this. Perhaps it might have been better suited for Round 7 (the acoustic round) where it would likely sit more comfortably amongst the other tracks. I gave it a courtesy third listen, but I found myself skipping it.

5.5

home...Porcupine Tree-Trains

So I am not a Porcupine Tree fan. From what I've heard, I find Wilson's vocals snooty and smarmy. But on this track, he's really not annoying. It's a nice enough track. It isn't bad. But nothing really stands out to me. Seems like a safe choice. Maybe too safe.

6.5

Tyrias...Strawberry Girls-Aqua Verde

I must say when I saw the band name and title, I was like WTF is this.  Once it started going though, musically, it's pretty neat. Definitely could've done without the female vocals.  Then the track gets interesting musically. From 2:36 - 3:25 is great, but this track needed to end around the 4:00 mark. It gets repetitive for a minute, and then the song blows apart in the last minute. WTF? Why?

6.5

Train Of Naught...Artificial Language-Unself Portrait

For some reason, perhaps because of the title of the band and track, I was very curious about this. I actually liked it. The singer sings in a Freddie Mercury style. I mean, he's not Mercury, but this track has a Queen like feel to it. And I like how the guy just goes for it.
I would've liked a more ballsier last minute, but for the most part, this was fairly enjoyable.

7.5

Tomislav97...Katatonia...Old Heart Falls

I found this song interesting. It was easy on the ears. I didn't not like it. I'm glad it was only four and a half minutes. I definitely couldn't have taken 8 minutes of this, but it was compact enough. A solid track. A pretty decent tune. I might check something else by them if anyone has some suggestions...Looking at you Wolfking.

7.0

Sacul....Nine Inch Nails-Head Like A Hole

This is by far the last band I was expecting. I must admit that this is the first NIN song I've ever heard. I would probably say that this might be more interesting if I were watching it. I thought they were more industrial than this. But it had a punk type chorus, but for me, this track is devoid of any melody or hook. I mean, it's probably their style, which is likely a reason I'm not into them. This song also seemed a bit simpler than I was expecting.

6.0

The Silent Cody...Sevendust-Denial

Cody..I'm sorry man. Sevendust just does not do it for me. Similar to NIN, they probably rock the shit out live, but from what I've heard, their songs are rocking, but they just don't pull me in with anything. They are just so melodicless (is that a word?). I know they are popular, but they are just not for me.

6.0

LordCost...Caligula's Horse-Dragonfly

So I complimented Katatonia for not going to nine minutes. This song, felt a little long. The vocals were extremely underwhelming.
I definitely liked the solo from 4:40- 5:30. At 7:25, you get a monent of full band and it and then again a few moments later. That should've taken it to the end of the song. But while the last minute rocks, I needed that kind of energy earlier in the song.

7.0

Standings:

LordCost-40.5
Parama-40
Train Of Naught-39
Tomislav95-38.5
Shadow Ninja - 38
Home-38
The Silent Cody-36
Sacul-35.5
Tyrias-35.5

Yep, that's not the best thing Katatonia did but I was afraid to send something you might find boring. I would recommend album Dead End Kings if you like atmospheric and moody (mildly) progressive rock. Last Fair Deal Gone Down for depressing gothic epicness. Viva Emptiness for pretty heavy gothic rock.
BTW I'm Tomislav95, not 97 :P

Anyways you'll hate every entry next round too so hopefully mine will be the least hated since a lot of it is chill or instrumental

Also yeah Dragonfly both goes on too long but also the last third or so is the best part & I could've lived with cutting the first two thirds in half

I don't think I've ever been this satisfied with a 7.5

Dragonfly was literally the only song I had put on my TAC playlist for this roulette, though I really wasn't planning on sending them cause I figured they would be anyway and I'm not the biggest fan. I thought maybe some people who actually like the new album (unlike me) could send something cool off that one.

From Artificial Language, check out their only album ;D the closer is brilliant, it reprises almost every song on the album.

Oh yeah and for the growlie round I sent the best song of 2017, try to beat that

Well, not the worst score for a drunk send :lol. Probably should have sent something else by them, there's very little singing on the whole album and lots of instrumentals like the parts you loved, so maybe check it out anyway, if you feel like it.

This one's a lot more guitar and riff driven, for example:

Second album is better, yeah, but not by much. It would have been a better choice for you also for the sound of the album, I suggest you to start from that one.
If you like instrumentals, Old Cracks In New Earth is a good one.

I'm not a big fan, but they have some good stuff.  But I only have a few of their albums.  Night is the New Day is by far the one I like the best.  Some cool songs from what I know;

Ghost of the Sun
My Twin
Disposession
Forsaker
The Longest Year
Onward Into Battle
Criminals
Deliberation

Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Someone else apparently has a great taste in growlie music. on the downside, I have no idea what to send now.

Just to be clear: Does it have to be growls, or is any sort of extreme vocals okay (talking about some screaming)?
