Hello DTF Member,

If you are reading this, you are invited to participate in the DTF Fantasy Football League for the 2017 season.

This version of the league has been going for several years. 8 teams have renewed, but there's more than enough room for anyone else who would like to play.

If you played last year and do not wish to play this year, please let me know or delete your team.

To register, click the link:  https://yho.com/nfl?l=644961&k=3e5237dedf0f5924&soc_trk=lnk&ikey=46de2d1c16638197

If you register, please reply with your team name so that we know who's who.  We'll need a minimum of 8 and while 12 would be perfect, we'll go up to 14 or 16 if that many people want to play.

We're going to do 0.5 PPR this year unless the majority would like to do 1.0 PPR or standard.

Live Online Draft
Date: Thursday, August 31, 2017
Time: 9:00 pm EST
Draft date/time can changed to fit the needs of the majority.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thank you.

This thread can also be used for general Fantasy Football talk.

Like I always say, I would love to play with you guys, but I don't like playing in free leagues since I have zero incentive to keep up with them.  Plus, I always have a handful of pay leagues, and that is hard enough as it is to keep up with.

Any chance we could move the draft a night in either direction?

I'd play, but the link when I click on it is saying it is an insecure connection with a bad security certificate.

Can that be corrected so I can sign-up? I am also good for the Wednesday, Aug. 30, 9 pm. EST, 6 p.m. Pacific live draft.

And the draft is now Thursday night.

Today is the day of my primary FF league draft. Hosting it at my place with 11 other players (friends & family). Got the official draft board hanging on the wall. Nothing beats in person draft!

Hell yeah! I just ordered our draft boards the other day for our two local live leagues (one auction, one snake).  :hat

I awesome... I haven't had the heart to attempt an auction league yet.

And I hate drafting this early (before the 3rd preseason games), but people like going on vacations this time of year for some reason.

As you get older, it gets harder to find a day everyone is available to draft.  My brother has been the commish of our auction league off and on for 20 years, and he makes it simple every year. He talks to everyone at least a month ahead of time to see what day the most people can make it and then says, "Okay, this is the date. Those who cannot make it will be replaced." It's funny how when you take that stance, some who said they couldn't make a certain day magically find a way to do it.  It sure beats trying to please everyone and having to change the date 11 times.

So here’s what I got so far. If you’re under “2017 Confirmed, you’re all set. Do feel free to change your team name if you want.

If you’re under Auto-Renewed,  Yahoo! Signed you back up. If you don’t wish to play, do nothing, and I’ll delete your team in 48 hours. If you do want to play. Reply in the thread of PM me, and you’re all set. Even if you don’t get back to me within 48 hours, you can still play, though you’d need to re-register, and we’d have to honor the even team rule.

If you’re potentially joining, or just happen to be reading this and would like to play, sign up!

Okay gents... after hearing back from some and not others, here's where we stand.

2017 Confirmed
1. Accelerando – Shiny Chrome Warboys
2. Axeman90210 – Fitzmagic
3. Destiny Of Chaos – Ravens Kill Militia
4. Rattlehead – No Fly Zone
6. Splent – Mr. Rodger’s ‘hood
6. ThecountOfNYC – Broadway Joe
7. TheSilentHam – Hammy’s Aporkalypse

We cannot draft with 7, so hopefully we get at least 1 more. of course 3 or 5 more would be great, but we'll take what we can get.

If we wind up with an odd number on draft night, which ever team has registered last will be removed. Hopefully it won't come to that.

In the event that no more DTF members want to play and we're stuck on an odd number by Wed, 8/30, we can open it up to any non DTF member that you'd like to join the league, friends, family, etc.

When you get a chance, please select your choice for point system (if you have a preference). Deadline for this vote is 4PM EST on Wednesday, 8/30.

Standard (No points per reception)
PPR (1 point per reception)
Half-PPR (0.5 points per reception)

I'm partial to Half-PPR, seems like a nice balance.

I like the way we do PPR in our local auction league.

1.0 for TEs
.75 for WRs
.5 for RBs

I like PPR, but 1.0 for every position is a bit much. I think it was last year or the year before when TJ Yeldon (Jax RB) had 8 catches for 11 yards.  8.1 points for that kind of paltry production is just gross.  Sure, that's an anomaly, but I think the way we do it adds a great emphasis to the TE position and makes for more strategic ways of building your team.

The fact that we do 3-flex helps, too.  I don't get why more leagues don't do that.

That is interesting.

We have an even number now... so hopefully people join in pairs, or not at all.

The 3-flex is something all of the owners love.

We start:

1 QB
1 RB
2 WR
1 TE
3 Flex (RB/WR/TE)
1 K
1 Defense (which was brought back much to my chagrin)

This format allows every owner to build their team however they want.  If you want to start 1 RB and 5 WRs, you can do it.  If you want to go RB-heavy and start 4, you can. That flexibility makes it a lot more fun and interesting.

Alright gents. We're set for the draft tonight at 9PM EST. If you can't make the draft, your team will be Auto-Drafted.  Draft order will be random. And we'll be doing PPR (by somewhat popular demand).

Even if you're not serious, I'm going to pretend you are and use this as proof that not all heroes wear capes.

Currently have Eifert and Martellus  Bennett in at TE and flex in another league. Contemplating benching one to put Mike Wallace at flex... thoughts?

Wallace is like Torrey Smith: he will catch a handful of long touchdowns, and you just pray they are in the weeks you have to start one of them .

I miss playing in a league with long distance scoring. I used to be all over WRs like that.
