Genesis Foxtrot Vinyl Error
« on: June 11, 2017, 11:24:20 PM »
So I got my first turntable earlier today. The first record I played was Foxtrot by Genesis. I played side 1 & apart from one scratch at the beginning of Get 'Em Out By Friday (it was a second-hand copy), it worked great. Then I flip onto side 2 &...

...it's the exact same as side 1?

Am I just bad at operating a turntable or do I have some weird misprint of Foxtrot that has the same songs on both sides?
(I got it on ebay & it was from Germany btw if that helps)

Actually sides A and B for Foxtrot are both the same.  They just listed nonexistent side B tracks  to make it seem longer.  It wasn't until Wind and Wuthering that the band actually produced two sides of music.

It's a bad pressing, which are known to exist.  So yeah, the songs are not supposed to be the same on each side.  Foxtrot is notable for having their first and only true epic, "Supper's Ready" taking most of the second side, but on the other hand, it might be worth something as a collector's item.  You could put it back on Ebay, but play up the fact that it's a rare misprint, and I'll bet someone will pay decent cash for it.

That high, whiney sound you are hearing is not an error, that is actually how their singer sounds.
